Hyundai unveils two N brand performance EV concepts ahead of IONIQ 5 N launch

The dawn of performance EV tuning is upon us. After teasing an upcoming N series of EVs, Hyundai has unveiled two “rolling brand” concepts offering upgraded nods to both the automaker’s past, present, and future. These concepts should help wet our beaks until Hyundai officially launches the IONIQ 5 N next year.

This evening, Hyundai globally debuted the IONIQ 6, which it describes as an “electrified streamliner.” Because it shares the same 800V E-GMP platform as the IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 6 makes its debut with a lot of the same features. That being said, Hyundai has worked hard to improve several performance specifications on it newest EV, including significantly better range.

Hyundai Motor Group announces its first dedicated EV facilities coming to the US

Following rumors circulating earlier this month, Hyundai Motor Group has officially signed an agreement with the state of Georgia to invest $5.5 billion in new facilities dedicated to EV and battery manufacturing. When complete, these new facilities will be Hyundai’s first EV-specific manufacturing on US soil and will produce a wide range of upcoming electric models.

Hyundai and We Drive Solar deploy IONIQ 5s with V2G tech in the Netherlands to create the ‘world’s first bi-directional city’

Hyundai Motor Group and We Drive Solar have teamed up to help create a completely bi-directional region in the Dutch development district of Cartesius in Utrecht of the Netherlands. To begin, We Drive Solar has equipped 25 Hyundai IONIQ 5 BEVs with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology to send power back to homes and businesses in the region during peak energy hours.

Kia Corporation has followed parent company, Hyundai Motor Group, by delivering its own Investor Day virtual event, outlining its roadmap to further sustainability by 2030. The strategy includes 14 BEV models in the Kia lineup by 2027, as well as an expectation of 1.2 million BEV sales annually by 2030. Additionally, Kia will deliver its own dedicated purpose-built vehicles starting in 2025.

Hyundai to begin EV manufacturing in the US with hopes subsidy bill passes

Hyundai Motor Group recently shared plans to begin manufacturing its Genesis GV70 EV in the US beginning in 2022. The electrified GV70 will be produced at Hyundai’s Alabama plant, and will mark the first EV manufactured in the US by the Korean automotive umbrella.
