GM announced today that it is investing $2 billion to produce electric vehicles at its factory in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

The updated factory will produce the Cadillac LYRIQ electric SUV, among other electric vehicles.

GM announced its first electric vehicle-only factory, called ‘Factory Zero’, to produce the GMC HUMMER EV pickup and more.

GM Cruise announced that it received the greenlight from the California DMV to operate a fleet of true driverless Chevy Bolt EVs.

GM has unveiled a new Buick Electra electric vehicle concept and claims a range of over 400 miles with GM’s Ultium battery.

The Nikola (NKLA) and GM deal might be in jeopardy as the latter changes its tone and opens the door to walking away from the deal.

Nikola Motors and its founder, Trevor Milton, are scrambling to save face after a research report exposed years of deception. This follows their new deal with GM, who doesn’t seem very concerned about their new partners’ past deception.

Chevy has released the first teaser pictures of the upcoming refreshed Bolt EV and new Bolt EUV electric cars.

General Motors and EVgo announced today that they plan to add more than 2,700 new fast chargers at grocery stores, retail outlets, and entertainment centers in 40 metropolitan areas. The message is to fast-charge in a half-hour while you’re completing errands.

Ken Morris, GM’s vice-president for electric and autonomous vehicles, today provided an update on the company’s progress with electric vehicles throughout the lockdown period. “We’re absolutely on time,” said Morris. “We haven’t lost a beat.”

In November, Ken Morris, who has been with GM for 31 years, was named vice-president for electric and autonomous vehicles. It’s hard to imagine how he could be more gung-ho on EVs. In interviews over the past few months, he repeatedly states that GM (and the world) will soon hit an inflection point for electric propulsion. He told Automobile magazine last week that GM will be all-electric “sooner than people would think.”

Hi folks, I’m currently flying back from Detroit after the electric car event. We did a bunch of posts about the EV news coming out of the event, but there are tons of nuances to be covered. I had a firsthand look at a dozen unreleased electric vehicles from GM, but we couldn’t take any pictures or videos. GM said they would provide images and video afterward, but nothing they provided really shows off these vehicles and technology in a way that we saw in person.
