The GMC Hummer EV pickup is hitting the sweet spot of hype and scarcity that is sending the price of new units in auction surging to now over $250,000 per truck.

Today GM finally announced the electric AWD Corvette and perhaps something that will have a wider consequence outside of car enthusiasts: GM’s Ultium platform’s “energy recovery system”. The EV tech will help boost range, help vehicles charge faster, and heat car interiors with excess heat produced by the batteries.

LG Magna ePowertrain, a recently launched joint venture between LG Electronics and Magna International, has broken ground on a new facility in Mexico, the JV’s first production footprint in North America. When completed, the 260,000-square-foot plant will produce a multitude of powertrain components to support electric vehicle production from General Motors (GM).

Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe has truly begun to wake up and smell the EV coffee lately, making several big announcements in 2022 that pertain to expanded electrification. In its latest news, Honda plans to invest about $40 billion over the next decade to deliver 30 BEVs around the globe. Despite this effort and additional funds allocated toward solid-state battery development, Honda is still very much in love with hybrid vehicles and plans to continue to promote them.

After a few days with this beast, it is clear that this thing has all the bells and whistles – but with a huge 200+ kWh battery, is the Hummer brand still a little excessive?

That being said, the SUV version of the Hummer is not scheduled to deliver until 2023, and new pickup orders won’t be fulfilled until 2024 under current production timelines.

LG Energy Solution is investing $1.7 billion and creating 1,200 jobs at its existing EV battery factory in Holland, Michigan. The expansion of the factory will quintuple its capacity to produce EV battery components.

Following the Chevy Equinox EV’s debut during CES in January, General Motors has shared a new video of the upcoming vehicle, showcasing a new blue exterior color, two-toned, with a pearl roof. However, it can’t fix the problem with a software update, and owners will have to go to dealerships to potentially have their taillights replaced. GM is extending its Chevy Bolt EV production halt to April as battery availability remains scarce with a focus on supply for the replacement modules due to the fire risk recall. However, the automaker is now confident that it should be able to restart sales soon.

Lightning eMotors, a specialist in purpose-built commercial EVs and electric conversions, has announced a new agreement with General Motors (GM). Under the terms of the new agreement, Lightning eMotors becomes the first GM Specialty Vehicle Manufacturer (SVM) to develop 100% electric Class 3 through 6 commercial vehicles.

GM’s troubled Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV models have been out of production for months, and more and more evidence points to the fact that Bolt production at GM’s Orion plant, if it ever does restart, won’t last long.
