Tern specializes in folding bicycles, both electric and non-electric, but they fancy themself a transportation company. For those of you undergoing car replacement therapy, the GSD is one of, if not the best, compact cargo bikes on the market today. Every inch of the bike is covered in useful features, coming together in a dense product that continues to impress with each mile.

Coming to America: Testing a typical Asian electric bike for a US audience

Fwheel A5

When I visit China, or really anywhere in Eastern Asia, I’m always amazed at just how prevalent electric bicycles are. E-bike adoption may be on the rise in the US, but it’s simply the standard way to get around in much of Asia. And so I wanted to test how a typical Asian e-bike could perform when taken out of its element and dropped in the West. To do so, I hopped on the newly released F-wheel A5 e-bike.

Aventon Sinch review: One fat tire electric bike that is different than all the others

aventon sinch

There’s just something about fat tire electric bikes that make them so much fun to ride. But it’s not every day that you find a fat tire e-bike that is as elegantly crafted as the Aventon Sinch.

This e-bike offers the unbridled joy of cruising around on ridiculously oversized tires yet without sacrificing any build quality. That makes it a top value e-bike for anyone looking for lots of bang for your buck.

Gazelle Medeo T10+ might be the ultimate commuter ebike

Last year, I reviewed the Gazelle CityZen T9 ebike and thought it was a fantastic offering for those people content with 20mph assist speeds on smoother roads. But as someone who commutes on rougher backcountry roads, I much prefer getting close to 30mph before the electric assist cuts off. That not only means a Class 3 capable motor but some other improvements are necessary to the bike.

Today we are looking at the answer to most of my concerns with the T9: Gazelle’s Medeo T10+

Surfing on lightning: test riding the YuJet electric surfboard, wipeouts and all!

yujet electric surfboard

I should probably start by saying I’m not a surfer. I’ve never surfed before and I have no idea how to do it. But that didn’t stop me from jumping at the opportunity to test out YuJet’s electric surfboard, which was unveiled just last month.

After reviewing just about every other form of electric transportation from electric cars to e-bikes to e-motorcycles and e-skateboards, I knew I had to add one more notch on my e-belt, so to speak. And despite my novice surfing level, I was amazed at how easy it was to learn to ride the YuJet electric surfboard.

Model R review: Here’s what makes this 1.25 kW US-made cruiser ride so well

What happens when you mix cruiser bike styling with a mountain bike fork and motorcycle-level hydraulic brakes? Oh, and when you slap on a 1,250 W peak motor for good measure? You get the Model R from the aptly-named Electric Bike Company.

I visited the company’s hometown of Newport Beach, California to see this new e-bike in person and put it through its paces.

5,400W e-scooter review: 50 MPH Wolf Warrior is the most fun you can have standing up

wolf warrior electric scooter

Fast electric scooters like the 5,400W Wolf Warrior from FluidFreeRide are serious machines made for serious fun. These are purpose-designed scooters that are built like a tank with the proper suspension, brakes, and other components to (relatively) safely get that power to the ground and still bring you home for dinner.

VanMoof’s new $2,000 S3 commuter ‘smart eBike’ is a technical and design marvel but not for everyone

VanMoof S3 review

VanMoof, the Dutch company that specializes in very futuristic Dutch-style electric bikes has a new $2,000 S3 model that we’ve had a few weeks to take for a spin. While we marveled at a lot of the design and technology of this prototype bike, I can conclude that it isn’t for everyone, particularly if you’ve got long steep hills to conquer or want to travel above 20mph.

Review: Haibike Sduro Trekking 4.0 brings durable and reliable components to a solid all-arounder

Haibike, a worldwide locally sold electric bike brand, carves a place in the middle of the road with the flexible Sduro Trekking 4.0.

In the past, Haibike carried about 50 different models in a variety of sizes, component level, tire size, and frame option. Lately, they’ve reduced their USA offering to less than 20 models, and I think it’s a change for the better. One of the models that made the cut is the quite flexible model called the Sduro Trekking 4.0.

Fiido D11 $799 electric bicycle test (yes, this cheap Indiegogo e-bike rocks!)

fiido D11 electric bike

The Fiido D11 folding electric bicycle just launched last week on Indiegogo for pre-order at $799. That’s an awesome price for a slick-looking e-bike, but who really knows in advance if a new product launched on Indiegogo is bang or bust?

So I talked to the company and convinced them to send me one of the only Fiido D11s in existence so that I could put it through its paces to determine if it was worth the price.

[Update: The Fiido D11 Indiegogo campaign has ended and the bike is now on sale here.]
