Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2025 model year version of its flagship EQS sedan. The all-electric luxury vehicle, now entering its fourth model year, is touting some notable improvements inside and out. Mercedes-Benz shared that its new “Wallbox” EV charger is now available to customers throughout the US. The Level 2 home charger was designed in true Mercedes-Benz style and has internet-connected capabilities like remote functions and over-the-air updates. Specific Mercedes customers can receive a complimentary charger with an EV purchase.

Seven months after seven major OEMs shared plans to join forces and implement a new EV charging network of over 30,000 piles in North America, the joint venture, now called IONNA, has officially received regulatory approval to begin operations. The JV has also named its first CEO, who is no stranger to EV charging.

Tesla and Mercedes-Benz to compensate for loss of German EV subsidies

The German government announced that it will abruptly end its subsidy program for electric vehicles on December 31, which has dealt a blow to automakers in one of its biggest European markets. But Tesla and Mercedes-Benz say that they will compensate for it, covering the full price of the subsidy for German buyers, with other automakers joining in.

Huawei, a major smartphone OEM, telecom supplier, and (formerly) silicon designer, is engaging German carmakers Mercedes and Audi over a potential stake in its vehicle software business. Huawei currently supplies vehicle software to several Chinese domestic OEMs, including Seres Group, Changan Automobile, and Arcfox, as well its own joint ventures, Luxeed (co-owned by Chery) and Avatr (co-owned by CATL).
