Buckle up, boys and girls! Today I’m going to treat you to something with an extra dose of both awesome and weird for this week’s entry in the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week! I hope you came hungry. (And also ready to hurl that lunch you’re hungry for.) Because today we’re diving headfirst into a donut-shaped BBQ party boat fresh off of China’s oddest little corner of the web!

The wonderful thing about Alibaba is that you can find just about any type of vehicle under the sun, especially electric vehicles. Want to explore the seas? Have an electric boat. Want an entire backyard train set to drive your friends around your sprawling property? Here’s your own train. Storming a Normandy beach? How about an electric Willys Jeep?

But when it comes time to mount up on your own electric steed and hit the highway for some midlife crisis motorcycle fun, you’re going to want to turn your attention to this awesome electric motorcycle that earned a coveted spot as this week’s Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

For those who haven’t yet had the pleasure (or misfortune) to discover it, I happen to write a weekly column showcasing some of the weirdest and most awesome electric vehicles I can find on the eclectic Chinese shopping site Alibaba. I’ve actually bought some of the weird EVs I’ve found, as have some of my more misguided readers who disregarded my advice not to do something dumb like me and fork over real money for what sometimes looks like imaginary vehicles.

But this time one of my enthusiastic readers has even outdone me, finding something awesomely weird that I haven’t even featured yet, and then taking a several thousand-dollar leap of faith on it. So without any further ado, check out his wild-looking 6,000W standing electric ATV…thing.

When it comes to electric cars on China’s largest online shopping site Alibaba, you can find just about anything. And that variety has kept me in business, so to speak, by finding the weirdest and most fun ones out there for my weekly Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column. That often means funny-shaped electric vehicles or sometimes odd mashups that take to the sea or even the sky. But sometimes it’s not what is added to a vehicle that makes it special, but rather what is suubtracted. And that’s the case this week, where this funky little electric car seems to have had the rear end torn off without anyone noticing.

Mother Nature may be beautiful, powerful, and mystifying, but it’s Father Time who eventually catches up with all of us. We start out young and eager on our cute little red tricycles, our parents giving us an early push. We grow into kids on our first real bike, then progress toward power as we mount our first motorcycle. The years pass as we hop from bike to bike, invariably chasing just a bit more power or speed. The horsepower grows. The torque climbs higher. The sun ages our leather riding gloves until the lines begin to match those on our faces.

And one day, without fail, Father Time catches us all. We end up right back on a trike, savoring the stability of three wheels to give our old, broken bodies one last wind-in-our-face highway thrill. But if your social security hasn’t been as good to you as you had hoped, it might be time to give up the dream of a brand new chromed-out Harley Tri-Glide and instead look at something more like a $500 Chinese electric trike. And boy, do I have just the trike for you!

I’ll admit it – things have gotten pretty weird and wild in this column in the past. But while vehicles like electric submarines, backyard trains, and party buses shaped like tigers all have a certain indescribable charm to them, this week’s electric vehicle stretches the limits of what you could reasonably call “a vehicle.”

But then again, that’s what we’re here for. It just wouldn’t be the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week if it wasn’t both awesome and weird. And while I know I may never get a Pulitzer for this thankless work, it’s enough to know that people out there are at least scratching their heads and going, “Well, huh.” So buckle up because this one is going to be a wild ride.

I’ll be honest, I’m not quite sure how to describe this thing. If a ride-on lawnmower and a dump truck made an illegitimate child in an electrical storm, this would probably be it. The quirky vehicle has the maneuverability of a shopping cart mixed with the utility of a wheelbarrow.

It’s everything I could ever want in a one-seater electric dump truck, especially since I didn’t know the category even existed until I stumbled upon this little wonder-trucklet. But now that it’s raised its dumpy head above the tall grass and peaked at the great big world out yonder, it has officially won the dubious honor of becoming this week’s Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

Flashy electric sports cars and massive electric trucks may grab more attention and headlines, but it’s the average-Joe electric vehicles that will make a real difference in our cities. But just because something like an electric panel van doesn’t sound flashy, that doesn’t mean it can’t be awesome in its own way! Just check out this cool electric panel van I found on my latest dumpster dive into the electric vehicle section of the massive Alibaba online shopping site. It may not be the most high-tech electric car to come out of China, but it sure makes up for it in funky charm!

And that’s what it takes to score top billing in this week’s edition of the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

There are few things more fun than hitting the water with your friends on Sunday afternoon, a cooler full of cold brewskies, and a smile on everyone’s faces. But then again, few things can bring the floating party to an end quicker than the sound of a sputtering outboard engine as you hand out paddles to your buddies. So to avoid that little snafu altogether, why not hop aboard one of Alibaba’s finest electric boats for a silent cruise across your local waterway? And instead of worrying about how much range you have, you can kick back and relax while the sun recharges your batteries for free!

Like many of the quirky electric vehicles I find for the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week series, this fun-looking electric go-kart is a bit oddly proportioned. But that wouldn’t stop me from terrorizing the local neighborhood in it, all-wheel-driving my way to my rightful position as the king of the cul-de-sac!

You know that feeling, right? It’s Monday morning and you just barely have the energy to get out of bed to face the day. You groggily down your coffee just so you can open your eyes enough to drive yourself to work. But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if there was an Uber service that could let you finish your sleep on the way to work? Well, my friends, it appears that’s exactly what the masterful engineers at Alibaba have come up with. And this primo specimen of ingenuity on China’s largest online shopping platform is perfect for the latest entry of the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

I love electric vehicles as much as the next guy, and I’m particularly enthralled with personal electric vehicles. You know, the kind built for just one person: electric bikes, electric scooters, electric rideables, and such. I like to think I’ve embraced some of the more oddball designs out there, though I’m not sure I’ve faced anything as nutty as this self-balancing seated electric scooter.

But as seems to be the theme with this weekly column, I’m ready to jump in with both feet on what is most certainly one of the more unique Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week finds this year.

It’s no secret that I love me a fun little electric pickup truck from China. Yes, I’m that guy that floated one over from halfway around the world to use as a farm truck in the US. But just like my four-year-old nephew after a run through a candy store, time does not stand still. And neither does the pace of development in Chinese electric mini truck factories. Because less than half a year after my own mini electric pickup truck rolled into my garage and heart, more advancements are popping up in the industry. And that means that we all get to enjoy the latest that the Chinese mini electric pickup truck market has to offer in this week’s rendition of the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week!

We have a lot of fun scouring the abyss of Alibaba in search of the most creative assemblages in the Chinese shopping site’s endless array of electric vehicles. That search often takes us on land and occasionally even into the skies. But this week we’re going to don our bucket hats, flip-flops, and tank tops as we head to sea on one of the weirdest electric boats I’ve ever seen.

I called it a two-seater, but there’s a chance this dandy little electric car is built for just one rider. Even if so, it’s got enough charm to make up for its lack of utility. And I think we can eke out just enough awesomeness and weirdness from this vintage-inspired automobile to nestle it comfortably into this week’s edition of the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week!

Most of the weird electric vehicles I find each week on Alibaba for this column are fun to imagine driving, but they box you into a single odd product. Maybe you get an electric horseless carriage, or an electric backyard train, or an electric house-on-wheels. But there’s not much creativity in that, now is there?

So instead, this week I think it’s time to let our creative side out to explore just what is possible when we remove the shackles of fully completed vehicular design, and instead embark on our own custom electric car creations using China’s very own electric car skateboard platform.

There’s no shortage of weird, funky, or wild electric vehicles on the Chinese shopping platform Alibaba. I’ve found some real doozies for past entries in this weekly column. But this week’s feature of an electric bus is particularly far-flung. A tiger-molded electric bus might prompt some to ask “Why….?”

But for me, the answer is simple. “Why not?!”

For all those folks out there that “don’t see color,” do I have an awesome electric pickup truck for you?! The fact that it only comes in pink could be a turn-off for some, but not for you! And the sub-$2,000 price might just help push another few converts towards the coolest electric truck reveal since Chevy threw its name in the ring last month.

The only difference is, you can actually buy this one and it will arrive in less than two years. Though buying an electric pickup truck on Alibaba isn’t quite as simple as that, as I found out last summer. But for now, let’s just take a look at what makes this mini electric pickup truck so awesome, and how it landed a coveted spot as my Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

After I had such a good time pretending to operate my own private fire service with the mini electric fire truck I found last week, I think I’ll stick with the municipal services for just a bit longer. And considering the famed high-wages that garbage men are supposed to receive, perhaps its time I bought an electric garbage truck and take this dumpster fire on the road.

The garbage e-truck in this week’s edition of the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week will make that keenly possible, and I’ll sure be doing municipal waste collection in style!

I’ll admit that most of the wacky cars and other assorted vehicles that I find for the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column are largely just for fun. They’re all about having the coolest, weirdest, or craziest personal vehicle on the block. But this week I think it’s time I buckled down and actually made a contribution to society instead of just enjoying my hedonistic electric vehicle ways. And that’s why I’m starting up my own fire service with the most adorable little electric fire truck that money can buy.

Admit it, you know it’d be fun to be chief engineer on your own train. You’ve probably never even thought about it before, but if I said “Here, have your own train. Go nuts!” you’d jump at it. I know I would. And through the magic of the internet and a crazy little corner of it known as the electric vehicle section of the Alibaba Chinese shopping site, that dream is closer to reality than you might have expected.

Today’s find of a fully functional kiddie train means we could be cruising the neighborhood and riding the rails at the same time. And that’s what makes this week’s edition of the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week so intriguing!
