Rivian just posted its more recent letter to shareholders outlining its progress and financial numbers from Q2 2025. We have already covered much of Rivian’s Q2 achievements outlined in the letter. However, we have gained a clearer understanding of where the American automaker stands on production numbers, revenue, and gross profit through half the year as it continues to gear up for the start of R2 production next year.

Move over, Lucid. There’s a new world record holder in EV range. Engineers at General Motors recently took a minimally modified version of the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck out on a real-world test and traveled a total distance of 1,059.2 miles from a single charge.

Solid-state battery developer QuantumScape has posted its quarterly fiscal report and letter to shareholders for Q2 2025. QuantumScape’s progress update includes an expanded agreement with Volkswagen Group’s battery business, PowerCo, and a new joint development agreement with an additional OEM.

EV charging arm bp pulse has cut the ribbon on a long-promised new hub near LAX Airport. This is the first of many “Gigahubs” in the works and has opened as bp pulse’s largest EV charging station in the US.

American automaker Rivian has shared its second release outlining expanded offices this week. Earlier today, Rivian shared plans for a new East Coast Headquarters coming to Atlanta, Georgia. The headquarters will operate near its massive new EV production facility being erected outside the city.

Axial flux electric motor developer YASA announced it has achieved what it believes to be the highest power density for an electric motor ever, hailing the feat as an unofficial world record.

Lucid Gravity Robotaxis? Yes, please! Uber Technologies, Lucid Group, and Nuro, Inc. announced an exciting new partnership this morning. The three will combine technologies to deliver the public a premium global robotaxi option on Uber’s platform. We should see the Lucid robotaxis roll out in their first major city next year.

We’ve already reached peak summertime (crazy), and your back patios aren’t the only thing heating up. Rivian has extended its lease deals, which apply to a range of R1S and R1T configurations. Combined with federal tax credits, you could save upwards of $15,000 on a new Rivian EV.

Joby Aviation is gearing up (literally) eVTOL production in the US as it prepares for scaled commercial operations. The company is ramping up capabilities and its two current facilities in two states, leveraging the insight from its long-term investor, Toyota.

Series M, the all-electric off-road centric model from Scottish startup Munro Vehicles, is on the cusp of prototype validation before reaching customers. With a new chairperson in place, Munro says it has over £17 million in preliminary orders for its unique 4×4 EVs.

Boutique electric hypercar developer Rimac Automobili continues to do what it does best—smash world records on the track. This time, Rimac took its Nevera R electric hypercar out, where it secured 24 world records, besting 23 previously held by the Standard version of the Nevera.

American EV automaker Lucid Motors has demonstrated another lesson in premium efficiency. Earlier this week, Lucid took a Grand Touring version of its flagship Air sedan on a Guinness World Record-setting trip from Switzerland to Germany, showcasing the capabilities of its technology while providing more evidence that all-electric models are the future of long-distance travel.

Mercedes-Benz continues to demonstrate the capabilities of its future lineup of all-electric vans and multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs), all atop its new 800V Van Architecture. Most recently, Mercedes drove two test versions of its VLE MPVs nearly 1,100 kilometers, from Germany to Rome, Italy.

Less than three months after kicking off production of its flagship, solar-electric travel trailer called the Flow, electric mobility startup Pebble has begun deliveries to early customers in the US. The deliveries of these unique Pebble trailers will also include a new automated waste disposal feature called “Auto Dump,” a first for the industry.

International eVTOL developer Joby Aviation has hit a key milestone overseas, as it moves closer to commercial air taxi operations. This morning, the company shared news that it has begun eVTOL flights in the United Arab Emirates with a pilot onboard, a key step in the necessary certification process. Solid-state battery developer QuantumScape shared another exciting milestone today: integrating its long-developed “Cobra” solid-state separator manufacturing process into its baseline production. This step technology significantly reduces the overall footprint and production time of QuantumScape’s proprietary solid-state cells, setting the stage for commercialized production.

Robotaxi developer Zoox has cut the ribbon on the first serial production facility for purpose-built robotaxi vehicles in the United States. This new cutting-edge facility will be able to assemble thousands of Zoox’s unique autonomous vehicles each year as its commercial services expand.

After years of development and months of teasers, Nissan has officially launched a reimagined version of the LEAF as a 2026 model year crossover, set to hit dealerships later this year. We will always love the original LEAF, but this new model is sharp and includes some well overdue upgrades, including a NACS port and Plug & Charge capabilities.

More news out of day one of the Paris Auto Show, as aerospace manufacturer BETA Technologies announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Republic Airways Holdings in which the latter will evaluate the potential of BETA’s all-electric ALIA CTOL aircraft for regional passenger and cargo flights.

Advanced air mobility developer Wisk Aero wasted no time during the first day of the Paris Air Show, announcing two separate deals to establish autonomous air taxi operations in two different regions. Those agreements include Memoranda of Understanding with partners in Miami in the US, and the City of Kaga, Ishikawa, in Japan.

We’re officially halfway through 2025 (crazy), and 2026 model year EVs are starting to rear their beautiful, sustainable heads. We recently got some teaser images of the new Quad Motor R1T as a 2026 model, and now Rivian has shared all the starting pricing for the variants of its two flagship BEVs.
