Aventon Pace 500 Next Gen electric bike review: Testing a high-value option for a city e-bike

aventon pace 500 next gen

Aventon’s electric bikes have always impressed me with their build quality and attention to detail. When the company launched an updated version of its popular Pace 500 e-bike, I knew to expect more of the same excellent qualities. Now that I’ve been able to spend some quality time testing the bike, I’m even more convinced of the brand’s commitment to giving its customers more than they anticipated.

Review: New Apollo City 2022 electric scooter, built using the e-scooter community’s feedback

I recently had the chance to put some good miles on the newly unveiled 2022 Apollo City electric scooter to see what makes the latest version of this awesome new scooter so special. And considering the company built it using all the feedback they’ve received over the years from their massive community, it definitely ticks a ton of my boxes for an ideal high-speed commuter electric scooter.

Rad Power Bikes RadExpand 5 review: Here’s what’s hidden in Rad’s new fat tire folding electric bike

rad power bikes radexpand 5 electric bicycle

When the RadExpand 5 was first unveiled, I was surprised to see the company go in this direction and replace the RadMini with a new model. But now that I’ve spent some good time in the saddle, I see exactly what Rad was thinking, because the folding RadExpand 5 e-bike draws on some of the best parts of every other e-bike in the company’s wide lineup.

Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser review: Affordable & stylish 28 MPH electric bike for one or two riders!

ride1up cafe cruiser electric bike

It’s a bit ironic that California-based electric bike maker Ride1Up’s name is now antithetical to its newest model, the Cafe Cruiser. Riding two-up is generally motorcycle speak for carrying a passenger on back. And that’s just what the Cafe Cruiser does, in addition to combining some sexy styling with a comfortable cruiser-inspired ride. And to top it all off, the bike has some darn good performance as well.

Review: Lion Energy Safari ME gives your home (or off-grid site) a massive battery and solar panel package

lion energy safari me power station review

I recently had the chance to test out the Lion Energy Safari ME portable power station along with the massive battery expansion pack and solar panel package. I don’t say this lightly: This is THE high-capacity portable power station I’d want to bring with me to an off-grid cabin, campsite, or even to have in my garage in case of a natural disaster.

Review: CellPowa 2500 launched as massive off-grid battery power station, and we tested it!

BigBlue previously cut its teeth on a number of green energy and power supply products, including a modestly sized 500Wh portable power station and folding solar panel. But now the company is launching a much larger power station, the CellPowa2500, which can likely power just about anything you own, be it AC or DC.

Possway T3 electric skateboard review: 32 mph and big ‘ol comfort wheels for $499? Sign me up!

The $499 Possway T3 electric skateboard falls into an interesting middle ground between typical road-ready electric longboards and their beefier all-terrain electric board cousins. The chunky wheels and powerful ride combine to offer it a commanding presence that gives you the confidence to tackle more than you might be able to on a conventional electric longboard. Or at least that’s what it did for me when I got the chance to test it out recently.

Review: Electric Bike Company’s Model E is an affordable US-built e-bike for nearly everyone

The Model E offers a great balance of quality parts and economical pricing. It’s right there in the name: Model E. The ‘E’ is for Everyone, as Electric Bike Company’s founder and CEO Sean Lupton-Smith explained to me as I tested the bike out on a cool winter morning in Newport Beach, California. That’s where EBC builds its e-bikes, assembling them locally from a combination of US and internationally sourced components.

Not only did I get a chance to tour the company’s factory and watch how e-bikes were being built in front of my eyes, but I got to spend a few days riding around Newport on the Model E, getting a sense of just what makes this e-bike special.

AlphaESS 1,036Wh Portable Power Station review: The big boy to power all your devices off-grid

When it comes to storing electricity for off-grid uses, portable power stations are key. But for larger devices that require more power than a typical USB device, larger capacity batteries and more powerful inverters open the door to serious utility. And the AlphaESS Portable Power Station we tested has an extra serving of power and capacity for bigger tasks. It also comes with an exclusive discount code that you’ll find below.

What’s better than plenty of off-grid power? Saving $150 on that off-grid power!

JackRabbit review: This odd-looking 20 mph ‘micro electric bike’ is just funny enough to work great

The JackRabbit is unique in a number of ways, from its electric bike-shaped design to its stubby proportions and even its surprisingly lightweight build. Now on a second version and thus technically known as the JackRabbit 2.0, this bright and eye-catching little electric scooter surprised me with just how much fun (and how effective) it is to use.

The multiple award-winning Honbike is just about as steep of a departure from typical electric bicycles as I can find. Now launching on Indiegogo, we got to test out the revolutionary new driveshaft e-bike ahead of time to let you know if it’s worth a second look.

Yadea KS5 Pro electric scooter review: China’s biggest electric scooter manufacturer nails it

yadea ks5 pro electric scooter

The Yadea KS5 Pro electric scooter isn’t some low-performance, toss-it-after-a-month-type of electric scooter. The largest electric scooter company in China made sure to pack it full of performance, features, and value. I spent several weeks testing the KS5 Pro electric scooter, as well as also trying out Yadea’s smaller KS3 scooter, and I’d definitely recommend them both.

Here’s why.

The EMOVE Roadrunner is a hilariously over-powered little 35 mph seated electric scooter

The EMOVE Roadrunner from Voromotors seems like what an engineer would design for a seated electric scooter if they didn’t have to follow any rules. It’s basically two wheels strapped to a battery, and it goes faster than it probably should. It’s small. It’s powerful. It’s probably dangerous in the wrong hands.

In other words, it’s perfect.

Yose Power 388Wh portable power station review: Finally a portable battery station for Europeans!

Portable power stations are the 21st century gear that I wish I’ve had for my entire life. With the advent of lighter and smaller lithium-ion batteries combined with small-scale AC inverters, we can finally bring a wall outlet with us wherever we go. And while Electrek has tested plenty of options for North American users, what about all the Europeans out there?

Don’t fear, my fellow sensical-unit-of-measure compatriots! For today we’re checking out Yose Power’s 388 Wh portable power station, complete with both DC output and Type C “Euro-plug” AC port.

CSC FT1000MD high-powered electric bike review: Hitting 34 MPH on a 1,000W fat tire e-bike

csc ft1000md electric bike

One of the many nice things about riding electric bicycles in the US is the freedom to choose from an amazingly wide selection of e-bikes, including some very high power options. I feel for my European cousins who are stuck with their 250W motors, but not as much as I feel the awesome seat-of-the-pants acceleration that I get on the CSC FT1000MD, with its 1,000W mid-drive electric motor.

Ride1Up Roadster V2 Gravel Edition review: The best low-cost electric gravel bike out there. Period.

I was a huge fan of the affordably priced $1,045 Ride1Up Roadster V2 from the moment it launched last year. So when Ride1Up decided to release a modified version designed as a gravel e-bike, I was extra stoked. The updates, which include gravel-ready features like new disc brakes, a Gates belt drive, and higher-end gravel-friendly tires, pushed the price slightly higher to $1,245. But considering that my next favorite gravel e-bike costs 3x as much, I still call that an amazing deal!

Review: New Aventon Sinch fat tire electric bike updated, easier than ever to mount up and ride!

aventon sinch step-through

The Aventon Sinch was already one of the best-quality small-diameter-wheel fat tire e-bikes in the value category, but now it’s gotten even better. That’s thanks to a host of new upgrades from the company, including an ultra-comfortable folding frame with low step-through design that makes it easier than ever to quickly mount up and ride.

And of course Electrek made sure to have the first look at the new Aventon Sinch Step-Through, as I’ve been testing it out ahead of the bike’s launch today.
