If you were planning to purchase a Ford Fiesta in the future, you might be out of luck. Ford announced Wednesday it would be dropping what was once one of the best-selling cars in the world to focus on its electric vehicle rollout.

Ford is raising the price of its base electric truck model, the F-150 Lightning Pro, by $5,000 as the automaker fights through lingering supply chain disruptions and rising input costs.

Ford released its September 2022 sales results Tuesday as the US automaker continues to see rising demand for its electric vehicles. At the Hannover IAA Transportation event, Ford revealed new features and specifications of its all-new E Transit Custom, a fully electric commercial van, or what the automaker calls a “smartphone on wheels.”

Ford is not backing down from a showdown with Tesla as the EV race heats up. According to a new report, Ford’s CEO Jim Farley will meet with dealers next week in a bid to lower the price of its electric vehicles to compete with Tesla.
