Xiaomi Corporation is reportedly facing delays in acquiring a license to make EVs of its own in China under the Xiaomi Automobile brand it registered in 2021. As a result, nearly 23,000 people have reserved the upcoming SUV in the first 24 hours.

Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor has announced its next steps in previously laid out plans to expand EV sales to markets in Europe. Geely-owned EV sub-brand Zeekr continues to grow its range of EVs despite global supply chain constraints. On its Weibo page, the automaker has teased shadowy images of the next EV coming to its lineup – a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) called the ZEEKR 009, built with luxury in mind.

During its Baidu World 2022 technology conference today, the Chinese technology company unveiled its sixth-generation fully-autonomous vehicle – the Apollo RT6. With a detachable steering wheel, Baidu has created a production-ready EV with Level 4 autonomous driving capability that is expected to join the Apollo Go robotaxi fleet next year.

Sport and racing car manufacturer Lotus Cars announced it has officially completed its $1.2 billion production facility in Wuhan, China where several of the company’s future BEVs will be built. The first to arrive will be the Lotus Eletre, whose first unit rolled off the assembly line as part of its development toward actual production.
