We’ve been covering several prominent Chinese automakers teasing their latest EV models in the preceding weeks, ahead of the Guangzhou Auto Show. The annual event kicked off in China earlier today and immediately delivered several model debuts. Here’s a quick recap.

XPeng Inc. held its fifth annual Tech Day 2023 event in Guangzhou, China today, showcasing some of its latest milestones across a plethora of EV adjacent technologies. The keynote included full-autonomous driving, an AI-powered driving feature that will learn specific routes and take over for drivers, new software, an EV with an aircraft in the back, and even a new humanoid robot.

EV automaker XPeng Motors is set to hold its annual 1024 Tech Day in China next week and has begun teasing some exciting technology. In addition to a roadmap of its autonomous driving technology, XPeng is also teasing robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) as topics that will be showcased.

It’s been nearly a two-year journey since XPeng Motors originally announced its mid-sized luxury SUV, the G9 – a model born into expectations from its creators as a potential best seller in its respective segment. I recently found myself on a tour through Europe that included the Netherlands and thought, “The G9 recently arrived here, why not ask XPeng for a loaner to tour the countryside in?” Luckily XPeng obliged, and I got a the full helping on the G9 I so desired. I was not disappointed.

Ahead of its expected launch in Q4 of this year, XPeng Motors has shared three new images of its X9 MPV donning some geometric camouflage. It may not be the sleekest-looking EV to come out of XPeng’s development labs, but multipurpose EVs like this are becoming widely popular in China.

Despite recent financial ups and downs correlating with company news, XPeng Motors is looking to expand its global footprint of available EVs. According to words from the Chinese automaker’s president earlier today, XPeng will be beginning sales in three new markets around Europe, beginning next year.

Chinese EV maker XPeng (XPEV) announced Monday it plans to buy out Didi Global’s Smart electric car division. XPeng revealed the partners will launch a new mass-market EV brand next year with a starting price of around 150,000 RMB (roughly $20,500).

The automaker has a lot riding on this one as it looks to bolster less-than-stellar sales in its native country as of late.

XPeng Motors’ City NGP Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is now available in the China’s capital city of Beijing – the first automaker to make the technology available. With today’s expansion, City NGP is already available in four of China’s largest cities as the EV automaker looks to cover dozens of additional territories later this year.

Just three days after hitting showrooms and opening pre-orders, XPeng Motors’ G6 SUV is garnering a lot of hype in China as over 25,000 customers have already reserved one. This is encouraging news for the automaker, which has put a lot of faith into its latest model as the EV that will compete with the Tesla Model Y and help boost its delivery numbers this year.

This morning, Chinese EV automaker XPeng Motors unveiled its next-generation EV architecture that will be the backbone to future models going forward. XPeng states the new SEPA 2.0 platform will not only shorten future models’ R&D cycles, but offer a modular, interchangeable, end-to-end solution that will support a multitude of vehicle types – like its upcoming G6 coupe sedan.

XPeng Motors just announced that its EV customers in three major Chinese cities will receive a Phase One rollout of the automaker’s XNGP advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). With new software architecture, massive computing power, and dozens of sensors, XPeng continues to tout its ADAS platform as the “most advanced mass-market option in China.”
