GM and Stellantis invest in Niron Magnetics to develop rare-earth-free EV components

GM Ventures and Stellantis Ventures have joined a growing list of investors that have recently raised $33 million in additional funding for Niron Magnetics – a company developing proprietary Clean Earth Magnets based on Iron Nitride that function without rare earths or other critical materials used in today’s EVs.

GM releases Q3 numbers, Bolt leads the way while Ultium finally ramps

GM has released its Q3 delivery numbers and EV sales are plugging along, most notably with a huge increase in deliveries of GM’s first Ultium vehicles, the Cadillac Lyriq and Hummer EV, suggesting that GM might finally be getting Ultium off the ground.

But compared to GM’s overall non-EV sales, the Q3 total of just over 20,000 EVs sold represents a rather small percentage for a company that has repeatedly stated it is “all-in” on EVs.

General Motors (GM) looks to further commercialize its EV battery production and lower prices by investing in Mitra Chem – a startup described as an “AI-enabled battery materials innovator.” Today, GM announced it is the lead investor of a Series B funding round supporting the Silicon Valley-based battery company.
