A $1.2B battery-grade lithium refinery breaks ground in Oklahoma

Stardust Power (Nasdaq: SDST), a US battery-grade lithium product developer, has officially broken ground on its $1.2 billion lithium refinery in Oklahoma, which will be one of the largest in the US. 

The facility will eventually be able to produce up to 50,000 metric tons per year of battery-grade lithium.

LG Energy Solution to provide Rivian 4695 cylindrical batteries produced in the US for the R2

Battery manufacturer LG Energy Solution just announced that its Arizona subsidiary has signed a long-term supply agreement with US automaker Rivian for 4695 cylindrical batteries. The cells will be produced at LG Energy Solution Arizona’s new standalone US facility beginning next year and will power Rivian’s upcoming R2 BEVs.

SAIC-GM and CATL just launched an LFP battery that can charge 200km range in 5 mins

Two current titans in the electric mobility industry have utilized an existing joint venture to deliver a fresh battery technology to help EV drivers eventually go farther faster. Today, SAIC-GM and CATL launched a new lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery cell with a 6C multiplier, enabling recharge rates of up to 200km in just five minutes, making it the fastest charging battery cell in China.
