Volvo Trucks Corporation has announced the next generation of its all-electric, Class 8 VNR trucks for the North American market, including upgrades to battery size, range, and charging speeds. Furthermore, Volvo Trucks has introduced two additional configurations for its commercial fleets customers to choose from.

Volvo, Daimler, and TRATON GROUP to develop high-performance charging network for heavy-duty electric trucks

Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, and the TRATON GROUP have signed a non-binding agreement to implement and operate a high-performance public charging network for electric heavy-duty long-haul trucks throughout Europe. The agreement was signed to accelerate the growth of charging infrastructure and support the EU’s shift toward climate-neutral transportation.

Volvo and DHL Freight team up to test electric trucks in Sweden

DHL Freight and Volvo Trucks have recently announced a partnership to eventually implement heavy-duty electric trucks in Europe. The agreement includes exclusive, pilot tests of a fully electric Volvo FH truck. To begin, the truck will travel between two DHL Freight logistics terminals in Sweden beginning next month.

Volvo Trucks starts sales of VNR Electric Class 8 truck ahead of production

Volvo officially started North American commercial sales of its VNR electric heavy truck today, ahead of production, which will start in “early 2021.”

The truck will be available in three configurations: a single-axle box truck with 33,200lb GCWR, and two tractor configurations, a 4×2 with 66,000lb and a 6×2 with 82,000lb GCWR.

First drive: Volvo’s 24,500lb VNR electric truck drives better than it has any right to

Volvo Trucks launched their electric heavy duty truck program in California this week, nicknamed “Volvo LIGHTS.”  Its centerpiece is the new Volvo VNR Electric heavy duty truck, which enables local and regional heavy duty cargo hauls.  It will be used in a pilot program to haul cargo from the ports of Los Angeles to regional distribution hubs in Southern California’s Inland Empire.

As part of the launch, Volvo invited us out to Fontana speedway for a quick drive of the VNR electric, which handled better than it has any right to given its huge size.

Volvo unveils new all-electric garbage truck with up to 200 km of range

The Swedish group Volvo Trucks announced that it will bring its electric trucks to the road as soon as this year and with the unveiling of a new truck today, they have already added two new electric trucks in their lineup in just a few weeks.

They unveiled “the Volvo FE Electric”, a truck “designed for heavier city distribution and refuse transport operations with gross weights of up to 27 tonnes.”
