Love it or hate it? First ride on the MIKU MAX electric scooter thing

I first covered the Sunra MIKU MAX electric scooter late last year. The article blew up and it seemed that people had some very strong views either for or against the weird little personal electric vehicle. So when I finally got the chance to test ride one recently at the Barcelona Motor Show, I of course jumped on it. And here’s how it went.

Turbowheel Lightning review: Cheating death on a 40 mph electric scooter

Electric scooters have exploded in popularity over the last year or so. You can see them everywhere from college campuses to boardwalks and city streets. But while cute little 250 W and 15 mph (25 km/h) electric scooters are the norm, there are much, much more powerful options lurking in the shadows.

And when it comes to high power, you need not look any further than the Turbowheel Lightning electric scooter. At 40 mph (64 km/h), this electric scooter is a beast. And having survived the last two weeks on it, I’m here to share my story.

Fortunately for Barcelona-based electric scooter company Silence, they didn’t have to travel far. This year they brought Electrek out to see their newest consumer electric scooter in the flesh, the Silence S01. And I must say, this is one slick scooter that will have you wondering why you even need a car anymore.

After success with $2,495 electric motorcycle, CSC is back with 43 mph electric scooter

Electric scooters for one or two passengers are part of the quickly growing personal electric vehicle market. While they’ve been a hit in Europe and Asia for years, they are only now beginning to come into their own in the US. There aren’t too many options for Americans to choose from yet though, but CSC Motorcycles in Azusa, California is working to change that. Their new electric scooter known as The Wiz is one of the fastest and longest range options available.

I wrote a new book about electric motorcycles, here are the top 5 e-motos of 2019

Electric Motorcycles 2019 Book

As an electric vehicle journalist specializing in two-wheelers, I’ve had the pleasure of riding many more than my fair share of electric motorbikes. I believe 2019 is the year that these powerful, efficient, and fun vehicles finally take off and receive the mass market attention that they deserve.

And so it is with great pleasure that I get to announce that my latest book, Electric Motorcycles 2019, launches today. And it is available for up to 90% off for a limited time.

Review: The $1,999 electric Bloom Scooter offers extreme affordability, but at what cost?

I love electric scooters. They offer the fun and freedom of two wheels, the stability and road presence of a motor vehicle, and the environmental impact of a super efficient electric vehicle. Electric scooters and mopeds have already taken over Asia and Europe, but the US doesn’t have quite as many options. That’s why I was so excited for the chance to try out a Bloom Scooter, which is sold by California-based Ampere Motors.

At $1,999, the scooter is ultra-affordable – at least compared to other electric scooters. I’ve spent the last few weeks commuting on a Bloom Scooter to see how well a budget electric scooter performs. The answer: pretty well, though with some important caveats. Read on to learn more.

FluidFreeRide’s crazy powerful widewheel electric scooter just got better (and is on sale)

mercane widewheel electric scooter

Late last year I got the chance to review the WideWheel electric scooter from FluidFreeRide. The scooter packs 500 W motors into each of its two extra wide wheels resulting in a 1,000 W fun machine!

As awesome as the scooter was, my review noted a few areas that I felt the scooter could be improved upon. It turns out the FluidFreeRide team really took the critiques to heart, and has now introduced a new model with upgrades addressing each of my suggestions. And they are offering $300 off the price of the upgraded scooter this week.

Review: EMOVE 2.0 electric scooter is the lightest I’ve ridden at just 7 kg

emove 2.0 electric scooter

Electric scooters are one of the best options for portable electric transportation. They are nimble on the street and bike lanes, yet can be quickly folded and carried with you when you arrive at your destination. And while some heavier scooters can be a bit more challenging to lug around, the EMOVE 2.0 electric scooter from Voro Motors stands out as one of the lightest electric scooters in the market.

At just 7 kg (15 lbs), this scooter is the lightest I’ve ever seen. Check out my full analysis and video review below.
