I wrote a new book about electric motorcycles, here are the top 5 e-motos of 2019

As an electric vehicle journalist specializing in two-wheelers, I’ve had the pleasure of riding many more than my fair share of electric motorbikes. I believe 2019 is the year that these powerful, efficient, and fun vehicles finally take off and receive the mass market attention that they deserve.

And so it is with great pleasure that I get to announce that my latest book, Electric Motorcycles 2019, launches today. And it is available for up to 90% off for a limited time.

A booming electric motorcycle industry

Electric motorcycles aren’t terribly new, of course. Industry leader Zero Motorcycles has already blown past their 10th year anniversary.

But what was once a small market with just a few niche bikes has grown into a much larger industry with a large number of competing electric motorcycles and scooters.

Zero continues to dominate with their newest SR/F electric streetfighter revealed in February. I had the honor of being front and center at the unveiling where I broke the news for Electrek. I’ve also gotten the chance to report on Harley Davidson’s LiveWire after getting up close and personal with the new motorcycle in multiple countries.

In fact, in just the past year I have had the fortune of breaking news on everything from California-based Lightning’s new Strike electric sportbike to Beijing-based Evoke’s new electric cruiser motorcycle.

And while I’ve been humbled by the opportunity to report on many of these bikes for Electrek, there are many other impressive electric rides out there that haven’t even gotten the chance to grace our site yet. I believe that these electric motorcycles, dirt bikes, mopeds, and scooters deserve to be seen by a wider audience, so I dedicated my newest book to that endeavor. Only a fraction of the bikes in my book have ever been profiled on Electrek and many are undiscovered gems in the industry.

Electric Motorcycles 2019 covers over 85 of the most awesome, impressive, innovative and eye-catching electric motorbikes on the market today. The pages are filled with tech/performance specs, company details and industry analysis for every model. Manufacturers from around the world and their electric bikes were hand selected to be featured in this book.

With so many new models becoming available this year, I decided that I couldn’t wait any longer, and thus Electric Motorcycles 2019 was born. I intend to update it every year with the latest and greatest electric two-wheelers to create something that can become part coffee table book and part industry guidebook.

Why listen to me?

If you’re a regular Electrek reader then you’ve probably seen my daily articles covering the two-wheeled EV industry. But if you found your way here for the first time, welcome!

In addition to writing for Electrek, I’m also an author that focuses on creating books that teach people new info and skills related to the electric bike and electric power industries. My first book, The Ultimate DIY Ebike Guide, focuses on helping riders convert their pedal bikes into electric bicycles. My second book, DIY Lithium Batteries, is all about teaching hobbyists how to safely build custom Li-ion battery packs for projects ranging from electric cars and bikes to home energy storage. And my most recent book (at least until today’s release) titled DIY Solar Power teaches how easy it can be to build your own solar powered projects, like solar power for the home or to power projects like electric boats.

Writing about electric power and transportation has always been a passion of mine, which is why I’m so excited about my newest book.

Available now for a limited-time discount

As a thank you to all of our Electrek readers, I am offering Electric Motorcycles 2019 at a discount for the next few days. The book is available exclusively on Amazon, where the physical paperback version is priced at $19.99 and the digital Kindle e-book version is priced at $9.99. However, the paperback is currently on sale for $16.99 (15% off) while the Kindle version is available for just $0.99 (90% off).

I’d love to offer the physical book for an even steeper discount, but the higher printing cost of the full color book unfortunately prevents it. I am offering the Kindle version for less than a dollar because I hope to give all of our readers the chance to enjoy it (and you can get a free kindle-viewer for your computer or phone).

I will say though that between the two, I believe the paperback version shows the book off much better as it is laid out with aesthetics in mind, while the Kindle version can’t look quite as nice because of the adaptable layout and re-sizing nature of e-books. So if you can swing it for the paperback, I think you’ll enjoy it more. And Amazon offers the Kindle version for free to anyone who purchases the paperback. But I don’t want budgetary concerns to keep anyone from being able to enjoy the book.

If you are interested in the electric motorcycle and scooter industry, I hope that you will take advantage of the discounts and that you will thoroughly enjoy the book. Writing it has been an incredible journey in and of itself, and I’m excited to share it with the world today.

Oh and if you like the book and want to give it a nice review on Amazon, you get a million virtual high fives from me! Thanks for checking it out, and ride safe out there everyone!
