We run a weekly series to feature some of the most interesting finds in the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

Check out the various fun, weird and sometimes just plain odd electric vehicles below.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: $499 super-basic electric snowmobile

When it comes to snowmobiles, there’s kind of a set way to do things. They’re effectively trikes with a pair of skis up front and a single wide track in the back. But this new take on old-school snowsports seems to have reinvented the idea of just what a snowmobile can be. And it’s just wild enough to earn itself a coveted spot in this week’s edition of the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week series.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: This $800 Chinese Golf Cart

Having spent a year now writing this Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column, I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy discovering all sorts of unique Chinese design themes. I love seeing the way they tackle the same transportation problems we have in the West, yet often come up with their own unique solutions. And this week’s bizarre little electric golf cart is a great example of just how awesome that design can be.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: Quad-Motor Four-Legged ‘Spider Bike’

When I set out each week to find the wildest electric vehicles for my regular Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column, they are usually at least classifiable into categories like “bikes”, “cars” and “scooters”. But every now and again, I find something so wacky that it simply defies classification.

The latest example of Lamarckian evolution run amok on the most infamous Chinese shopping site of all is this funky “Spider Bike”.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: $2,500 Chinese farm truck

Electric farm trucks are awesome – I actually bought one from China to use as a utility vehicle around my parents’ sprawling property. But while mine looks like a knockoff American truck, I recently found a much more Eastern-style truck that has me intrigued. It’s a perfect selection for the latest entry in my Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column!

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: A shady passenger-carrying drone

I’ve finally done it, folks! Ever since I started this Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column, where I search for crazy EVs on China’s largest shopping platform, I’ve been hunting for an electric passenger aircraft. I was hoping to find some type of ultralight plane, but it’s been pretty tough.

Don’t get me wrong, you can find all sorts of ultralight deathtrap aircraft, but they’re all gas-powered. Alibaba is definitely full of shady-looking EVs that seem near death-defying (remember that one-wheeled electric motorcycle?). But for the life of me, I just couldn’t find an electric aircraft.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: $1,600 single-seat electric boat

There are few things in life that would make me happier than being able to live out my fantasy of existing inside a late 80’s or early 90’s beachy television show. I nearly made my Baywatch dreams come true, and now it’s time to go all Miami Vice on my latest find from China’s weirdest little giant shopping site: this awesome mini electric speed boat for one.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: $1,300 Electric Santa’s Sleigh

‘Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except for Micah clicking his keyboard and mouse. He was on the hunt for the latest Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week but was utterly dismayed as his prospects looked so bleak.

But then out of nowhere, what a sight to be seen! An electrically-powered Santa’s sleigh popped up on his screen. “Finally!” he thought to himself, “something unique and new!” And at just $1,300, it was quite a deal too!

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: $4,800 stretch limousine golf cart

There’s nothing quite like a golf cart to bring out the kid in every driver. A combination of car-like operation, go-kart-like handling, and video game-like repercussions make them a joy to ride. But with the typical 2+2 seat layout, you’re normally limited to enjoying the experience with only three friends. For anyone who wants to bring the whole family, class, or friend circle along though, this 12-seater stretch limousine golf cart will likely better fit the bill. It certainly fits what I’m looking for in this week’s Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: $700 electric bike with FIVE shock absorbers

I’m an electric bicycle guy through and through. You’ve probably seen me riding and testing any number of dozens of electric bicycles in the last few months – hundreds in the last year or two. So I’ve seen just about everything the e-bike industry has to offer, or at least I thought I had. That was until this strange-looking contraption rolled across my screen in my latest hunt through the Chinese shopping giant Alibaba’s electric vehicle section. With five different shock absorbers, moped seats and wheels the size of teacup saucers, I knew this apparatus was destined to become my next Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: $3,600 Silly Electric Truck

While Alibaba is known for having some oddball vehicles, its electric truck collection is often even weirder than average. So I know that when it’s time to dive into the depths of outrageous electric vehicle design for my weekly Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column, I’ll often bob to the surface clenching a weird new trucklet in my teeth.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: Risk it all on this $3,000 80 MPH electric motorcycle

They say motorcycle riders are masters of calculated risk. And as much fun as I’ve had on several different models of electric motorcycles lately, I’m not sure I’d take a risk on the latest bike I’ve found. An affordably-priced highway-capable electric motorcycle from China sure sound enticing, but something tells me a bargain basement electric sportbike just isn’t going to buy me enough of a safety margin.

But that doesn’t mean I can shake the tempting thought from my head. Fortunately, there’s always a home for oddball items like this in my weekly Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: $2,000 four-person electric bicycle

Nat King Cole may have had Daisy swooning on his bicycle built for two, but that’s hardly a practical family vehicle. What happens when you have a few rugrats and need to transport the whole brood? That’s when it’s time to switch to a bicycle built for four. And I’ve found just the thing for this week’s Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

So grab some sunblock, inflate your arm floaties, and join me in the shallow end of the pool while we check out this awesome little electric sea scooter that will either have you cracking open your wallet or cracking open a new bottle of dramamine.

I actually bought a cheap electric pickup truck from Alibaba. Here’s what showed up

Some readers may recall that a few months ago I bought a cheap electric mini-truck on Alibaba. I know this because I’ve gotten emails almost daily ever since, asking if my Chinese electric pickup truck has arrived (with some humorously calling it my F-50). Well, now I can finally answer, “Yes!” and share with you exactly what I received.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: A 7-seater Electric Beer Bike

Normally I’d say that alcohol and vehicles don’t mix – but in this case I think we’ve found a nice compromise. With a sober driver and a gaggle of tipsy riders in back, this 7-seater electric beer bike might be one of the weirdest ways to get your brew on. And since I found it on my favorite collection of ridiculous EVs on the internet, it’s a great addition as this week’s Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: This 12-seater ‘vintage’ electric car

Sometimes you want a fast car for going out. Sometimes you want a big car for showing off. But sometimes, just sometimes, you need something totally different for standing out. Now let’s see why.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: A fake electric Ferramborghini from China

Tech bro and manly compensation jokes aside, how cool would it be to have your own supercar parked in your garage? How many young boys didn’t grow up looking at Ferrari posters or have at least one Lamborghini in their Hotwheels car collection? I for one never thought I’d actually own one… at least until I found this work of art on Alibaba. Though the more I looked, the more things didn’t seem to quite add up for this being a bona fide Italian sports car.

The first clue might have been that it was on Alibaba.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: This 120 kW Chinese electric pickup truck

Most of the fun and wacky electric vehicles I find while trawling Alibaba to feature in my Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week series are notable for being fairly far-fetched. I mean, it’s not every day you come across an electric motorcycle with only one wheel or a fully functional electric submarine.

But the vehicle I’ve found for this week is notable for just how seemingly normal it is, and the fact that from halfway around the world you can buy an actual honest-to-goodness electric pickup truck that is highway capable and prepared to do real work.

Don’t worry though, folks, I’m not going too normie on you. If the truck’s “Rich 6” name is any indication, this thing has enough quirks to keep it interesting.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: 60 mph standing electric scooter death machine

When it comes to crazy electric vehicles from Alibaba, I’ve seen and written about seemingly every category under the sun. From animal-shaped electric boats and e-submarines to electric versions of Henry Ford’s Model T and even electric motorcycles with only one wheel. But never before have I found a direct-from-China EV that was as equal parts fascinating and suicidal as this one. And so it is with a combination of morbid curiosity and substantial trepidation that I present to you this week’s Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: a 60+ mph (100 km/h) standing electric scooter.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week: Tiny One-Seater Electric Car

Despite mainly covering electric two-wheelers and other non-car electric vehicles, I’m still pretty pro electric car. The problem is that even though they are greener than gas cars, those 4,000 lb tanks all seem like so much more vehicle than I need for my typical urban lifestyle. Or at least until I found this tiny gem of an EV! It just may be the world’s smallest four-wheeled electric car, if you can call it that.

What you can definitely call it is the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: $1,500 electric duck boat

electric duck boat

There are few things more pleasurable than a relaxing Sunday on your own boat, slowly meandering your way around the local lake or water hole. And lately the increasing number of electric boats are making that experience even more relaxing by removing the noisy and troublesome gas engines from the mix. But electric boats have often been prohibitively expensive… until now!

That’s because I’ve found the coolest way to get your affordable electric boating game on, as long as you don’t mind a slightly avian flair to your pleasure cruiser. This $1,500 duck boat isn’t your typical army-surplus amphibious tour bus – it’s an actual duck. And it checks all the boxes necessary to make it the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week!

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: Knockoff Ford Model T Electric Car

Most of the fun and wacky electric vehicles I discover while wasting time perusing the infinite abyss of creativity that is the Alibaba shopping site are of the ultra-modern variety. But every now and again, something that is decidedly vintage catches my eye, as was the case with this funny little electric car that appears to be heavily inspired by the original Ford Model T. And fortunately for whatever random factory seems to be hawking this hot mess, it tickled my fancy enough to land it a coveted spot as the Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week!

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: Solar-powered 2-seat e-bike with infinite range

Two of my passions are electric bicycle projects and DIY solar powered projects. In fact I’ve written the book on both topics. So to see these two fields combined in one quirky-yet-awesome product totally made my week. I just hope you’re as excited as I am to dive into this strange electric bike/car contraption that boasts a heap of features from seating for two to a giant solar panel array offering nearly unlimited range!
