I’ve personally tested dozens of electric scooters and covered hundreds more over the years, but never before have I rested my eyes, feet or butt on one quite as cool or weird as the Fiido Beast. It’s a novel design that, despite having a few issues, is a heck of a lot of fun to ride.

That joy comes from two main advantages: a ton of power and the ability to ride it either sitting or standing.

Go-karts are the perfect fun-mobiles to bring out the kid in anyone. But gone are the days when you had to choke down a cloud of exhaust to the deafening roar of a single screaming, overworked piston. These days, electric go-karts are providing kids and adults alike with fast, silent, and clean thrills around the local track or the neighborhood lady’s rose bushes.

Nest CEO Tony Fadell is behind the Actev Motors Arrow Smart-Kart

According to an alleged Nest engineer a couple months back, the company is on deathwatch. Of course the official word from Fadell himself is that all the bad PR doesn’t represent the company or its culture, but the evidence suggests still that financially and culturally there are lots of problems.

Now, we learn today (via Fortune) that Tony Fadell, Nest’s CEO, has had a little passion project going on in the background. Co-founded with its CEO Dave Bell, Actev Motors makes the Arrow Smart-Kart, a smart first of its kind electric go-kart with app controls and a $600 price tag…
