Swedish electric boat maker X Shore has just unveiled its latest electric boat model, the X Shore 1. The new electric boat is designed to significantly reduce prices in the expensive electric boat industry.

Two Swedish electric mobility companies are teaming up in the first ever battery deal between an electric car company and an electric boat maker. Polestar’s powerplants will find their way into two models of Candela’s flying electric boats, marking an industry first.

X Shore is one of several electric boat manufacturers helping to turn the tide on fossil fuel-based boating. The Swedish company’s X Shore Eelex 8000 is already a striking example of what can be done with an electric powertrain in a sleekly designed watercraft. But new teaser images released by the company show that “something new” is coming, and it might mean the Eelex 8000 is getting a sister.

The Ports of Auckland in New Zealand has welcomed a new member to its maritime family. A bright green, electric tugboat named Sparky recently arrived in Auckland as “the world’s first full-sized ship-handling electric tug.” By delivering the same bollard pull as the Ports of Auckland’s strongest diesel tug, Sparky represents a future in which zero-emissions ship handling is possible around the globe.

Stockholm-based Candela, the world leader in hydrofoil electric boats that fly above the surface of the water to consume significantly less energy, has just unveiled its newest electric watercraft: the Candela P-8 Voyager. Vita, a manufacturer of performance electric boats and electrified marine powertrains, announced its flagship model, the LION, will be manufactured in Maine by Hodgdon Yachts – the oldest shipyard in the United States. When it begins sea trials this summer, the LION will boast impressive marine propulsion specs.

Electric boat manufacturer X Shore recently secured its latest round of investment funding, this time to the tune of $50 million (~€45.9M). The funds will be used to increase research and development of electrified maritime technologies, and help ramp up manufacturing of X Shore’s first production boat, the Eelex 8000, which began in March.

The all-electric boat manufacturer Ingenity Electric unveiled its second model at the Discover Miami International Boat Show today. The luxury day-boat, known as the 23E, features Ingenity’s patent-pending modular “skateboard” design and joins the manufacturer’s sportier GS22E boat.

Electric hydrofoil watercraft startup Navier announced a large round of seed funding to help its founders in their quest to democratize waterways by reducing operational costs for electric boat transportation. The funding announcement comes as Navier constructs its first of 15 N27 hulls planned for its first year of production.
