Chinese EV maker Xpeng Motors announced Wednesday that Dr. Xinzhou Wu, who has been leading the company’s autonomous driving business, is leaving. XPeng (XPEV) shares are falling after rallying the past month on the news.

A week after confirming its subsidiary Audi will be co-developing EVs with SAIC Motor, Volkswagen Group is investing hundreds of millions of dollars in China’s XPeng Motors. Together, the automakers plan to jointly develop Volkswagen branded EVs for the Chinese market.

Mere days after gathering over a dozen automakers building EVs in China to commit to a non-binding pledge to avoid further price wars, China’s Association of Automobile Manufacturers, at the advisement of the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, has retracted the pledge after quickly catching flack promoting potential monopolization.

Less than a month after rolling its first new coupe SUVs off its assembly lines in China, XPeng Motors has officially launched its latest model – the G6. Priced below $30,000, XPeng sees the G6 as a serious competitor to the Tesla Model Y and plenty of other EVs in China. XPeng Motors’ City NGP Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is now available in the China’s capital city of Beijing – the first automaker to make the technology available. With today’s expansion, City NGP is already available in four of China’s largest cities as the EV automaker looks to cover dozens of additional territories later this year.
