Several new electric vehicles will be shown at the Japan Mobility Show later this month. Automakers, including Subaru and Lexus, will showcase their vision for the future, and we are getting a sneak peek of what that will look like.

Despite a slow start, Toyota plans to accelerate electric vehicle output over the next several years. The Japanese automaker aims to triple EV production of Toyota and Lexus brand models in 2025 as mass production begins.

With new global boss Takashi Watanabe at the helm, Lexus is finally venturing into the modern age of fully electric vehicles. To pick up the pace, Watanabe said Lexus will “humbly look at and learn from” Tesla’s accomplishments.

It looks like a new electric Lexus three-row SUV could be on its way. Toyota filed four trademark requests this week with the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIO) for a new Lexus TZ model.

Lexus is about to unveil its first all-electric vehicle, the Lexus RZ 450e, later this month, and it has started teasing it with new pictures.

It is expected to be based on the Toyota BZ4x and features a yoke steering wheel.

Toyota has released additional images of “possible” new Lexus electric sports vehicles with “430 miles” of range. However, the automaker is using extremely vague language about those vehicles.

Lexus has unveiled a new electric SUV concept, the “LF-Z Electrified,” but it’s not something it plans to bring to production. Rather, the automaker says that it is “symbolic” of its next-generation Lexus.

Lexus is teasing an upcoming new electric SUV powered by the automaker’s new “DIRECT4” drivetrain technology.

The Lexus UX 300e, the luxury brand’s first EV, is on sale in China now and hits Europe later this year. Lexus in Europe announced today that the crossover’s air-cooled 54.3-kilowatt-hour battery will come with a 10-year, 1 million-kilometer (621,000-mile) warranty. The Lexus UX300e joins the Nissan Leaf as one of the few EVs with air-cooled batteries, which are considered not as robust.

Lexus has yet to release an all-electric vehicle despite virtually all premium brands, like its top German competitors Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, going electric with new vehicles.

The head of the brand, Yoshihiro Sawa, now says that he believes that it is still too soon for EVs and therefore, they are not falling behind but having a better approach to alternative powertrains.
