One simple fact is going to tell you more than all of the Rivian R1S Review words, images, and video below: I’m in line to buy a Rivian R1S, and after a few days on and off the roads of upstate NY, I’m more excited than ever to get my hands on it.

But if you’ll indulge me, I’d like to tell you about this mighty, electric seven-seat off-road SUV and why it is on my, and many many others’ dream car list – from the perspective of someone who is test-driving their next vehicle.

Awesomely weird Alibaba electric vehicle of the week: $3,200 electric SUV

Whether toting the neighborhood kids home after soccer practice or loading up for a road trip, SUVs offer the ultimate in vehicle utility. If you’re in the market for an electric SUV though, the options are both few and pricey.

Unless of course you head on over to the coolest little corner of the web, the electric vehicle market on Alibaba. That’s where I found today’s entry for the Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: A pint-sized SUV that offers all of the charm and none of the utility of a full-size electric SUV!

Mercedes to unveil its first dedicated all-electric vehicle at the Paris Motor Show

While Mercedes has introduced several plug-in hybrid powertrains in its lineup, the German automaker has not been pushing very hard on the all-electric front. The company never built an electric car from the ground up and its only battery-powered vehicles were built on existing model platforms (A Class and B Class) with drivetrains developed in partnership with Tesla.

But earlier this year, the company announced a change in direction and greenlighted 4 new all-electric cars for production. Now we learn that the company is set to unveil the first of 4 models later this year at the Paris Motor Show.

Audi releases new renderings of the quattro ahead of IAA unveiling [image gallery]

Last month we reported on Audi planning to unveil the quattro, a new SUV-crossover equipped with Audi’s all-electric e-tron drivetrain, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which runs from the 17th to 27th of September. Today the company released more advanced renderings of the concept ahead of the media launch expected tomorrow.

New Tesla Model X pictures emerged – possibly of production models

Over the past few months, we have seen our fair share of spy-shots of Model X test vehicles, like the one above. These vehicles were always black or white and heavily camouflaged, but in the past few days, 3 Model X pictures published on Instagram show the Model X in blue and in red – with only little camouflage.

Audi to unveil the all-electric “e-tron quattro concept” at the Frankfurt Auto Show next month

Audi issued a press release today to announce that it will unveil the all-electric e-tron quatro concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show next month (IAA 2015 will run from September 17 to 27, 2015). Audi released some new information about the concept, which they expect to go on sale in 2018.

The company also released several new drawings of the quattro – see below.
