German automaker BMW has finally called it a wrap on the production of internal combustion engines, in its own country at least. Now its main Bavarian plant will be converted for the production of EVs only, while the company relocates its ICE production to the UK and Austria.
In order to further optimize the charging experience and help alleviate strain on local electrical grids, BMW USA announced it is expanding its ChargeForward incentive program to EV and PHEV drivers throughout the contiguous United States. The national expansion comes on the wings of the launch of BMW’s first all-electric 5 series, the i5.

The US will see the i5 Sedan arrive for sale in just a matter of weeks, before October’s end. BMW has so far only referred to the upcoming new all-electric vehicle as “iNext”, which was believed to be the long-rumoured ‘BMW i5’ electric crossover/SUV, but a new report now suggests that it could actually be a mid-range sedan to compete with the Model 3.
