Waymo and Uber have rolled out a partnership in Phoenix wherein riders who order an Uber within Waymo’s service area might get picked up by a driverless Waymo vehicle, rather than a human-driven Uber car, starting today.

The UAW has announced (and Ford has confirmed) that a tentative agreement has been reached with Ford to end the UAW strike that started six weeks ago. Ford workers will immediately return to work now that this tentative agreement has been met, though the strike will continue at affected GM and Stellantis facilities.

Cruise’s license to operate autonomous vehicles in the state of California has been suspended effective immediately, announced the California Department of Motor Vehicles today.

Update: Cruise has now voluntarily paused driverless operations everywhere.

As the latest step in the saga of recalled Chevy Bolts, GM is offering owners of ’20-’22 Bolts early payment of $1,400 of an anticipated class action settlement in exchange for installing a piece of diagnostics software that the company says will detect whether batteries require a full replacement.

United Auto Workers president Shawn Fain announced today that GM has “leapfrogged” other automakers in strike negotiations by agreeing to place all EV battery plant workers under the union’s national master agreement.

The IRS released new guidance on the EV tax credit today, and the changes mean that starting next year, low- and middle-income buyers will be able to get the full $7,500 credit even if they don’t have enough tax liability.
