Sedans are making a comeback. Volkswagen’s all-new upper midsize electric ID.7 sedan has finally shown its face without camouflage. Ahead of its world premiere on Monday, April 17, in China, the full details and images of VW’s fully electric ID.7 saloon have emerged.

German automaker Volkswagen Group is looking to more than double its current share of the US market by prioritizing EV production in North America. By adhering to new terms laid out in the Biden Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, Volkswagen intends to deliver at least 25 all-electric models over the next seven years that will qualify for the entire $7,500 federal tax credit.

Custom German auto tuner ABT revealed today it has developed solar modules to fit on the roof of the ID. Buzz to add roughly 1,800 miles (3,000 km) per year to the vehicle’s battery or for off-grid power.

Volkswagen (VW) is set to release the series production version of its newest electric sedan, the ID.7, within the next few months. Although VW teased a special camouflaged model earlier this year, the ID.7 was caught without camouflage for the first time in Germany this week, giving us a closer look at what we can expect.

According to a recent update from Volkswagen Passenger Cars CEO Thomas Schaefer, the Group intends to build at least four of its incoming EVs across its sub-brand’s current and upcoming facilities in Spain, including the VW ID.2, whose concept version, the ID.2all, was unveiled last week.

VW has big ambitions to bring down EV costs, starting with the battery cells. To do so, the automaker looks to invest in mines as it looks to vertically integrate. Through PowerCo, VW plans to meet half of its own demand while selling to other automakers like Ford.

Volkswagen is preparing to launch its smallest, most affordable EV yet, tipped to be called ID 1, starting at around $20K. The VW ID 1 is expected to launch in 2027 and will sit below the recently revealed ID 2all concept.
