Just over a month after announcing intentions to chase records at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in four separate vehicles, Hyundai has confirmed one of its entrants. This summer, drivers in the IONIQ 5 N will navigate to the elevated summit in hopes of setting a new record for the segment.

Ahead of its motorsport-centric N Festival in Korea later this month, Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled a new enhanced variant of its IONIQ 5 N performance EV. The IONIQ 5 N eN1 is a new electric race car designed and improved by Hyundai for professional drivers only. Don’t worry; it still has the fighter jet noises like the standard IONIQ 5 N.

Hyundai just released the IONIQ 5 N’s price just a couple weeks ago, and a California dealer has already marked the MSRP up on the automaker’s newest, most powerful EV by $20,000.

The first Hyundai N brand high-performance EV will start at $66,100 (excluding destination). Hyundai says the 641 hp IONIQ 5 N starting price sets a “new benchmark for engaging, all-electric high performance.” But how does it stack up against the Tesla Model Y Performance?

The racetrack capable model recently entered its final phase of capability testing at the renowned Nürburgring motorsports complex in Germany.

As we approach April, much of the US is just beginning to thaw out after the harsh months of winter. Soon, spring will bloom into hot, sunny summers when we are expecting to see the official debut of the upcoming all-wheel drive Hyundai IONIQ 5 N.
