The SONDORS Metacycle is slated to become the first low-cost highway-capable electric motorcycle released in the US. We’re still a few months out from the initial fall 2021 deliveries, but now Electrek has learned of several new updates that will be available once the bike is released later this year.
When the 80 mph (130 km/h) SONDORS Metacycle was first unveiled in January of this year, it shocked the industry with its low price of just $5,000 but also left many unanswered questions. The battery was a key unaddressed topic.
In a surprise announcement, electric bike manufacturer SONDORS has reported that its low-cost electric motorcycle known as the SONDORS Metacycle is running ahead of its production schedule.
The SONDORS Metacycle was first unveiled just over a month ago, and so far, all of its appearances (that we know of) have been carefully orchestrated. Now, we’re getting a chance to see the first public showing of the low-cost electric motorcycle at an event that included automotive and motorcycle aficionado Jay Leno.
A recently shared video is giving us our first look at the SONDORS Metacycle electric motorcycle performing real-world riding. It also finally provides us with some insight into the affordably priced electric motorcycle’s real-world range.
E-bike manufacturer SONDORS shocked the world last week when it unveiled its 80 mph (130 km/h) and $5,000 SONDORS Metacycle. It was the first affordably priced electric motorcycle that promised street-legal highway riding and enough range for nearly any reasonable commute.
But as epic as it was, the unveiling left us with plenty of questions. So I sat down with company founder Storm Sondors and product director Matt Irish to get the answers to the most common questions we saw about the Metacycle.
SONDORS has just pulled up the curtain on its first-ever electric motorcycle, the SONDORS Metacycle. The new commuter electric motorcycle may just be the first truly low-cost electric motorcycle capable of both city and highway riding.
Sondors is starting 2021 with a bang by announcing the unveiling of the “latest chapter in the SONDORS story” on January 14. And the latest chapter looks suspiciously like an electric motorcycle.
In case you thought you’d seen all the Super73-style electric bikes and mopeds out there, think again. Electric bicycle manufacturer SONDORS has just unveiled its own line of new electric mopeds known as the SONDORS MadMods. And you can now get $50 off one of the new e-mopeds (or any e-bike from SONDORS, for that matter) by getting a personalized coupon code.
Sondors has just revealed three new high-powered electric bicycles known as the Sondors Rockstar, Cruiser and LX. The new models are part of the company’s not-yet-released Elite line. They feature stunning new frame designs, huge 1 kWh batteries though the low introductory prices might actually be the biggest shocker of all.
And to make the prices even lower, Electrek can also get you $50 off one of the new e-bikes (or any e-bike from SONDORS, for that matter) by getting a personalized coupon code.
But if you thought Sondors wasn’t relevant anymore, then think again. The company not only has an expansive line of diverse e-bike models, but is now launching a new campaign known as Electric For Everyone designed to get more bottoms on e-bike seats. And you’ll want to pay attention to the deals Sondors is including with this campaign.
SONDORS, the company behind the impressively-priced $500 electric bike which had one of the most successful kickstarters ever, is now taking pre-orders for their three-wheeled, crowdsourced “Model SONDORS” electric car. The pre-order reservations, which cost just $100, are available on their website and will secure your place in line to get one of the early cars. The fee is fully refundable, minus a $3.30 transaction fee, and if you choose to buy the car when it is eventually available, your $100 will be applied to the price of the car upon making your order.
The car is intended to start at just $10,000 and have options for 75, 150, and 200 mile range battery packs. It will have three seats, quick electric performance with a 0-60 of 5-8 seconds (presumably depending on battery pack), and be sold online with direct customer delivery. Sondors is targeting 2019 to start delivering vehicles, assuming fundraising goals are met on time.

A few weeks ago, we reported in exclusivity about Storm Sondors, the maker of the popular Sondors ebike, launching another crowdfunding campaign but this time for an electric car. We mentioned that it could very well be the first serious attempt to crowdfund an electric vehicle, but as it turns out, it was joined by another in a matter of days.
There are now two electric vehicle crowdfunding campaigns running simultaneously and they both have already reached their goal for a combined total of over $1 million toward the development of the vehicles. Expand Expanding Close
If the word ‘Sondors’ rings a bell to you, it is probably because you’ve heard of their electric bike. The Sondors Electric Bike campaign was one of the most successful projects on Indiegogo ever. It raised over $6 million from 15,000 backers and they actually shipped the product – which is not always a given with these crowdfunding projects.
We can understand why it was and still is so successful. The Sondors eBike with 350W of power and up to 50 miles of range for just $500, it’s a hard to beat offer in the ebike market. Now the founder of the company, Storm Sondors, announces that he is making another electric vehicle. This time, it’s an electric car. Expand Expanding Close
It has been a big month for electric vehicles, with Tesla notably stealing the show with its event earlier this week and delivery numbers today. On the lower end of the cost spectrum, there is an ever increasing interest in affordable battery-driven transportation. We have already seen motorcycle and skateboard prototypes that each offer a unique alternative to traditional counterparts.
The eBike community is growing as well. One of the more intriguing electric bikes on the market comes way of Sondors. After previously raising over six million dollars on Indiegogo, Storm and his crew are back with a refreshed model and a lower price tag on Kickstarter that makes this affordable eBike more attractive than ever.
