Leading RV manufacturer Thor Industries, the parent company of the iconic Airstream brand, announced that it had signed a binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with German auto supplier ZF to give Thor companies exclusive rights to ZF’s eTrailer System in a travel trailer RV. The goal is a new kind of camper that would maintain – and possibly extend – the nominal range of an electric vehicle while towing.

We’ve seen some pretty ridiculous Tesla drag races over the years, more recently a Model S vs a snowmobile, but this one easily takes the first prize. At first glance, it might look like a fair fight, a Alfa Romeo 4C versus a Alfa Romeo 4C, but the second one is actually being towed by a Model X P90D.

If we want to be more accurate and look beyond the gimmick, the race is really between a Alfa Romeo 4C and a Tesla Model X P90D towing ~2,500 lbs, which is still an interesting experiment.  Expand

Tesla announced today that it is increasing its 24/7 roadside assistance and towing coverage from 50 to 500 miles of the nearest service center for issues covered by the warranty. Coincidently, the automaker announces the news while it is battling GM over direct sales law and the latter criticized Tesla for making customers travel long distances to get their car serviced, though to be fair, it is largely because of said direct sales law, which GM is advocating for.
