The continent is going for future proof charging infrastructure and now a fifth network is starting to install the new, more powerful stations.

Fastned is one of the fastest growing independent electric vehicle charging networks in Europe. After covering the Netherlands, the company announced expansions in the UK and Germany earlier this year.
Now the German government awarded them a subsidy of 4.1 million euro (~$5 million USD) to build 25 fast-charging stations in the country.

After covering the Netherlands, the company is now expanding to London and Germany with new fast-charging stations “that are suited to charge the next generation of EVs at power levels of 150 kW to 350 kW”.

In order to attract the almost 5,000 Tesla Model S owners in the Netherlands to its fast-charging station network, Fastned announced today that it will add Tesla CHAdeMO adapters to its 50 stations across the country.

Charging is still the primary concern of any new potential electric vehicle buyer. They want to know where they can charge the car and how long it takes. Now with the numerous charging standards and the difference between car models and battery pack sizes, it can be a difficult landscape to navigate. The bigger the battery pack, the longer it takes to charge, but at the same time, you can get an higher charging rate.
Netherlands-based charging station start-up Fastned is making the (safe) bet that battery packs will soon get bigger and, more importantly, they will be able to take higher charge rates.

Nissan announced today a new partnership with Fastned to offer 2 years of free fast-charging when buying a new LEAF in the Netherlands. Fastned has an extensive 38-station network of fast charging stations all around the Netherlands, which hadn’t been really put to the test until now. The company says it is building a new station every week.
