Expand Expanding CloseCadillac announced pricing and range for the Lyriq, an upcoming electric SUV coming this summer. It starts a little higher than originally announced at $62,990, but GM delivered on the range with up to 312 miles of EPA-rated range on a single charge. There’s also some eye candy for prospective customers below…
Expand Expanding CloseThe one question we had when GM unveiled its Cadillac Lyriq SUV was “will GM make enough of them to meet demand?”
We’ll start to find out the answer starting today as GM celebrates its first Ultium powered Cadillac Lyriq rolling off the assembly line in its sprawling Spring Hill, Tennessee complex.
Expand Expanding CloseFollowing a turbulent 2021 in terms of EVs, General Motors is moving full-speed ahead in trying to make good on its promise to deliver 20 new electric models by 2023. According to GM’s President, its highly anticipated Cadillac Lyriq will be one of the first to arrive, as pre-production models have been assembled ahead of deliveries in “a few months.”

Below are some of the most anticipated electric vehicles scheduled to arrive in 2022, along with a little blurb about each so you can start planning which ones you want to test drive first.

Expand Expanding CloseCadillac opened reservations for their upcoming 2023 Lyriq electric vehicle at 1 p.m. today, and, in a completely unsurprising turn for our readers, the car sold out almost immediately. By 1:19 p.m., Cadillac stated that all 2023 Lyriq “Debut Edition” vehicles had been reserved.
Other 2023 model year Lyriq trim levels will still be available, but so far, Debut Edition reservations are the only ones that have opened (and 19 minutes later, closed).
Expand Expanding CloseCadillac invited us out for a chance to get up close and personal with the “production-spec” Lyriq EV that they unveiled back in April.
We’ve got photos and video to share, and you can decide for yourself whether you agree that this thing looks sweet.

Two-thirds of these new EV models will be available in North America, and 40%(!) of GM’s US model line will be battery electric vehicles by 2025. GM also announced it would be moving its US debut of the Cadillac Lyriq SUV up from late 2022 to early 2022.
But GM has been making a lot of announcements lately, yet if you go to a GM dealership today, there’s a very small chance you’ll see an EV. Should we take GM at its word?

GM shared the first photo of the Lyriq’s screen, revealing a single 33-inch piece of curved glass in front of the driver.
A couple of weeks ago, GM CEO Barra promised that the canceled GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq unveilings would happen “in the not too distant future.” The date for the first of those two events was announced today: the virtual debut of the Lyriq will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 7 p.m. ET. As we reported last week, GM recently announced plans to position Cadillac as its lead electric vehicle brand. Today, GM shared the first images of Cadillac’s planned first all-electric vehicle.
So far, we have no details other than two images, showing it to be a crossover-style vehicle. We are still waiting on a name, timeline, and other specs – which Cadillac says will be revealed “closer to launch”.

GM will position Cadillac as their lead EV brand in a mission to catch up to Tesla in the US electric vehicle market, according to sources talking to Reuters.
They report that GM will announce these plans to investors on Friday. They are expected to announce that a Cadillac vehicle will be the first car made on their upcoming next-generation “BEV3” platform. This would be the first all-electric Cadillac GM has made or announced.
