The New York International Auto Show opened to the press today and we were there to see what electric vehicles carmakers brought to the floor.
New York’s show isn’t big for premieres, but we got a good look at some upcoming EVs, along with some electric concepts. One world premiere was the special EQC Edition 1886 from Mercedes-Benz — which you can check out here.
Here are the other electric vehicles we saw on the floor:
Kia HabaNiro concept
Kia’s HabaNiro (Niro, get it?) electric crossover concept is funky and a bit chunky, with a bright red interior and butterfly doors. The crossover is said to have a 300+ mile range and Level 5 autonomous driving capabilities, but…it’s a concept. There are no known plans for production, but for what it’s worth, Kia Senior Design Manager Kurt Kahl pointed out to us Kia that has brought its concepts to life in the past.
Kia Niro EV
Kia’s Niro EV was there, as well.
Genesis Mint concept
Genesis brought its Mint concept to the show — for much more on the concept (and EV concepts in general), here’s Jamie’s article about the reveal. Genesis is still saying it plans on introducing a separate, production-intent EV with a new electric drivetrain in 2021.
Hyundai Kona EV
Hyundai brought its Kona EV to the show floor.
Qiantu K50
A Qiantu executive said the K50 would be sold in North America in the first half of 2020 for $125,000-150,000, based on options. Mullen/Qiantu will sell 1,000 “signature series” cars first, and 2,500 per year after that.
Volkswagen ID.BUGGY
VW’s electric dune buggy concept was on the floor.
Rivian R1T
The R1T pickup truck was attracting lots of attention at the Rivian booth…
Rivian R1S
…as was Rivian’s R1S SUV.
Audi e-tron
Audi’s e-tron was in the house before it arrives on the US market next month.
Jaguar I-Pace
Jaguar’s I-Pace had a prominent spot in the Jaguar/Land Rover area.
Rimac C_Two
Rimac’s C_Two aka Concept_Two settled in amongst a number of other high-priced hypercars.
Chevrolet Bolt
Chevy’s Bolt was on the floor.
Nissan Leaf/Leaf Plus
Nissan had both its Leaf and Leaf Plus out on the show floor.
