Rocsys unveils hands-free charging system for robotaxis, raises $13M

Rocsys launched the M1, which it calls the world’s first hands-free charging system capable of serving multiple bays in robotaxi depot operations. A single overhead-mounted unit can charge vehicles across up to 10 bays without human intervention.

The Dutch-American company also announced a $13 million Series A extension, bringing total funding to $56 million, as it prepares to scale the system across North America and Europe starting in 2027.

Hands-free EV charging specialist Rocsys demonstrated its encouraging progress in enabling automated driving and charging in the commercial EV segment. As part of the MAGPIE initiative in Europe, Rocsys held a demonstration event in The Netherlands earlier today that showcased a fully electric autonomous truck navigating a port in Rotterdam before self-driving itself to a Rocsys robotic device, which began charging it automatically. Autocar and Rocsys are deploying automated hands-free EV chargers for trucks

Severe-duty vehicle manufacturer Autocar has partnered with Rocsys to deploy the latter’s hands-free EV chargers, expanding the technology across the former’s electric terminal tractors. Together, Autocar and Rocsys have already secured an initial fleet customer en route to full-scale integration of easier, intuitive charging infrastructure across the entire segment.
