Volvo announces launch of Polestar 2 trial production, on track for 2020 deliveries

Volvo has revamped its Polestar brand as an electric vehicle brand, and after the more expensive Polestar 1 PHEV, the Polestar 2 is expected to be the brand’s first mass-market and all-electric product.

Now the Swedish automaker says that trial production for Polestar 2 has started in China, and deliveries are on track for 2020.

Polestar 2 price finalized in Europe: €59k, competitive with Tesla Model 3

Volvo has confirmed the Polestar 2 price in Europe for their upcoming Tesla Model 3 competitor.  The markets announced were Norway, Sweden, Germany, UK, Netherlands and Belgium.

Pricing in each market hovered around €59k Euro or equivalent.  Norway gets a better deal with a price of 469k NOK, which converts to €46k, as does the UK, at £49.9k which converts to €56k.

Volvo’s Polestar releases more images of its ‘Tesla Model 3 competitor’ with Google UI

Polestar, Volvo’s performance brand which has been relaunched as an electric brand, is apparently gradually unveiling the Polestar 2, an upcoming all-electric sedan, which it describes as a “Tesla Model 3 competitor.”

After releasing the first image of the Polestar 2 earlier this month, they have now released a second one through an app, which also includes details about the vehicle’s user interface.

Polestar 2 will ‘not be a Tesla Model 3 killer’ and start ~$50,000, says CEO

Polestar made a big deal about its next electric vehicle, the Polestar 2, being a ‘Tesla Model 3 competitor’, but those plans are apparently becoming increasingly weaker as we learn more about them.

Now, the CEO even admits that Polestar 2 will ‘not be a Tesla Model 3 killer’ as he confirmed the price and pushed production to 2020.
