BYTON, the international brand of China-based EV startup Future Mobility Corp, announced that it is debuting its first electric vehicle in the US next week. It also confirmed plans to bring it to the US and Europe in 2020 after China in 2019.

You might remember last year when we reported on a bunch of executives from Tesla, BMW, and Nissan forming a new electric vehicle startup called Future Mobility Corp. The company is based in China and backed by Tencent Holdings, which is now also an important investor in Tesla.
Well, they launched their brand today, now called ‘Byton’, and revealed some of their plans and teasers for their upcoming vehicles.

In a surprising turn of event last month, several BMW executives in the automaker’s electric vehicle leadership, also known as the BMW ‘i’ brand, left the German automaker to join a newly formed Chinese EV startup, Future Mobility Corp, backed by Tencent Holdings.
Now Electrek has learned that two Tesla executive joined the BMW leadership at Future Mobility.

Several executives in BMW’s electric vehicle leadership, including 20-year BMW veteran Carsten Breitfeld who reportedly developed the i8, left the German automaker to join a Chinese EV startup, according to a new WSJ report.
The startup in question is Future Mobility Corp, a newly formed EV company backed by Tencent Holdings.
Tencent is an important holding company in China with significant investments in several of the country’s biggest internet, video game and social media companies.
