Faraday Future to sponsor the Formula E Long Beach race and display the FFZER01 concept

Electric vehicle startup Faraday Future (FF) confirmed today that it will be the title sponsor of the 2016 Formula E Long Beach ePrix race, which is now known as the 2016 Faraday Future Long Beach ePrix and will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Gates open at 7:00 am with race start scheduled for 4:00 pm.

The company also confirmed that it will display its FFZER01 concept in the eVillage Fan Zone during the race weekend.

Formula E will launch a new race series with driverless electric cars starting in 2016

After the success of its Formula E Championship, the FIA group announced a new race series with driverless electric cars in partnership with Kinetik. The new championship is called ‘ROBORACE’ and aims at providing a competitive platform for the autonomous driving solutions that are now being developed by automotive and tech companies.

ROBORACE will “piggyback” on the Formula E Championship with each race taking place on the same circuit right before the Formula E race. FIA and Kinetic plan for 10 teams, each with two driverless cars, to compete in 1-hour races.

Leonardo DiCaprio will promote electric vehicles through Formula E, becomes Chairman of the championship’s Sustainability Committee

Formula E, which starts its second season on Saturday, announced that Leonardo DiCaprio will promote electric vehicles for the organisation and become Chairman of the championship’s newly created ‘Sustainability Committee’.

The committee will focus on promoting the mass adoption of electric vehicles and the “long term imprint” of the Formula E in the cities where it races.

Formula E’s second season starts in just 3 days – video worth watching

Motorsports are definitely not for everyone, but if you never gave it a try, maybe the Formula E is the right one to get you started. The second season starts on October 24th in Beijing and it should be an  interesting one. They introduced new and more powerful drivetrains, and former Formula 1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve is joining the championship with the Venturi Team.
