Tesla sends out invites to its Sept 29th Model X launch event – a first look at the new headlights

Teslaevent29

On Monday morning Tesla Motors sent out invites for the Model X launch event, which will take place at the Tesla Fremont Factory on September 29th (7PM PT ). The picture on the invite gives us a first look at Tesla’s new headlights which have been camouflaged on prototypes until now.According to Paul Carter, founder of ModelXTracker.com and Signature Model X reservation holder, most if not all Signature reservation holders received the invite. The number of Signature Model X reservations is estimated to be at around 2,000 globally and just over 1,000 in the US. In order to reserve a Signature Model X, a potential buyer has to place a $40,000 deposit. Non-signature reservations require a $5,000 deposit and there could be over 27,000 already reserved.

The Signature reservation holders were the first, and currently the only ones, to have access to Tesla’s online design studio for the Model X to configure and place their orders. Tesla is expected to deliver the Model X to the first few reservation holders at the event.

Here’s the Model S Customer Delivery Event (2012), we could expect a similar event for the launch of the Model X:

Since Tesla made its online design studio available to Signature reservations holders, the company has been tuning the options for the new all-electric SUV. They increased the estimated EPA-rated range on the P90D by 10 miles to 250 miles and added hitch accessories directly at the purchase of the Model X in order to get around the ‘Falcon Wing’ door limitations.
