Audi announces 2027 A6/Q6 e-tron updates: scroll wheel return, new drift mode, improved regen

Audi is rolling out significant updates to its A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron electric vehicles for the 2027 model year, bringing back physical controls, adding a new “dynamic plus” drift mode, and improving regenerative braking for better efficiency.

The changes come as part of a broader update across Audi’s PPE (Premium Platform Electric) lineup, addressing some of the early criticisms of these vehicles while adding genuinely useful new features.

Another year, another Audi A6 e-tron concept. During its 2022 Annual Media Conference, the German automaker pulled the sheet off its second A6 e-tron concept – a luxury class station wagon called the Avant. Picking up when the A6 e-tron Sportback concept left off, the Avant offers a glimpse into Audi’s all-electric future with some sleek new features that optimize space and aerodynamics.

Audi debuts A6 e-tron concept on new EV platform, plans 2022 release

Audi has just shown the future of their electric sedans with the A6 e-tron concept, which debuted at the Shanghai auto show today.

The sedan is based on a new platform that Audi is calling “Premium Platform Electric” or “PPE” for short, developed in collaboration with Porsche. This platform will enable Audi to offer several new vehicles, with the first hitting the road in late 2022.
