Ram’s first electric pickup is headed overseas to take on Europe

Ram promises its first electric pickup will offer more range, towing, and payload than its rivals. With the Ram 1500 REV all-electric pickup officially headed overseas, Ram plans to “launch the best EV truck in Europe.”

Ram’s first fully electric pickup, the Ram 1500 REV, will make its way overseas next year. The company is launching its full-size EV pickup in Europe to rival Ford’s F-150 Lightning.

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said Ram’s electric pickup would “outperform all competitors” in the areas that matter most: range, towing, payload, and charging times.

After revealing more details about the powerhouse EV pickup in May, we learned that the 2025 Ram 1500 REV is expected to have over 350 miles driving range with the standard 168 kWh battery pack. Ram promises a massive 229 kWh battery option enabling up to 500 miles of driving range.

Ram’s electric truck will also be able to tow 14,000 lbs with a 2,700 lb max payload. With 800V fast charging, the Ram 1500 REV can add around 110 miles range in roughly 10 minutes.

In comparison, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning has 320 EPA-est driving range with a 131 kWh battery. Ford’s Lightning can also tow up to 10,000 lbs with a 2,000 lb max payload. The standard battery (98 kWh) can fast charge in around 32 minutes, while the Extended Range battery (131 kWh) takes around 38 minutes.

Ram’s first electric pickup is headed overseas

After confirming plans to launch the 2025 Ram 1500 REV in the US in early 2025, Ram confirmed the electric pickup is headed overseas.

The all-electric Ram 1500 REV will launch in Europe by Q3 2025. Ram claims its electric pickup will “offer best-in-class driving range, towing and payload capacity, and the largest frunk in the segment.”

Built on the STLA Large platform, the Ram 1500 REV is expected to have a range of up to 563 km (350 miles).

Like the US-spec model, Ram’s electric pickup features a 6.3-ton towing capacity, 1.2-ton payload, and a 425-liter frunk. It can also gain around 177 km of range in 10 minutes.

Stellantis will build the electric Ram truck at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) and export it to Europe later next year.

It is expected to weight around 3000 kg (6600 lbs). So to fit for standard driving license the total payload would be max 500 kg (around 1000 lbs). Passengers + cargo.

This is DOA. No one will make a commercial driving license and pay fees for a commercial vehicle to drive such a car. Like, zero chance. Above 3.5t gross weight we’re talking about yearly medical checks for a driver and paying a per-km fee for usage of mkwt main roads. It’s why even RVs in Europe are staying (99% of them) under 3.5t gross weight.

Good luck another time, Stellantis.

The Ram 1500 REV will follow Ford’s F-150 Lightning, which is already on European streets. In February, Ford handed over the first F-150 Lightning to a customer in Norway.

Ram will challenge other electric pickups on the market, like the Maxus eTerron 9, Europe’s first AWD electric pickup.

In the US, Ford is targeting Ram ahead of its first electric pickup. This week, Ford introduced a new incentive: up to $2,000 off for Ram owners who switch to the Lightning.
