GreenPower just launched a new electric refrigerated delivery truck

Today, GreenPower (Nasdaq: GP) debuted its latest electric truck offering, the electric refrigerated medium-duty delivery truck, the EV Star REEFERX.

The purpose-built medium and heavy-duty EV manufacturer and distributor says the new EV Star REEFERX is available for orders starting today. It’s the 12th truck body upfit by GP Truck Body, a GreenPower subsidiary, on the GreenPower EV Star Cab & Chassis platform.

The EV Star REEFERX is purpose-built and fully customizable, with a lighter body for an increased payload of up to 5,500 pounds. (GreenPower’s earlier electric refrigerated delivery truck models offer a payload of up to 5,000 pounds.)

GreenPower says the REEFERX’s battery placement provides a lower center of gravity, resulting in maximum cargo capacity.

The mid to last-mile electric refrigerated truck has a 118 kWh battery and a range of up to 150 miles, and can DC fast charge in around two hours. Wireless DC fast charging is also an option.

The EV Star REEFERX can move such temperature-controlled goods as fresh and frozen foods, flowers, and pharmaceuticals. Its one-piece wall structure provides consistent insulation and multi-temperature zones for items that need different storage temperatures.

Temperature variation is mitigated with three-inch thick PET (polyethylene terephthalate) foam made from recyclable material with a closed-cell foam composite that won’t absorb water. Various insulation thicknesses are available.

It’s a low-maintenance refrigerated delivery truck because it’s electric, significantly reducing downtime and improving fleet owners’ total cost of ownership.

Brendan Riley, President of GreenPower, said:

The global refrigerated trucks market size reached $9.8 billion in 2023, and is expected to reach $15.4 billion by 2032. With mandates, such as California’s requirements for all Transportation Refrigeration Units (TRUs) to achieve zero-emissions by the end of 2029, combined with the increasing demand from consumers for online shopping and home grocery delivery, a significant market opportunity exists for this vehicle.
