Mission E battery pack

An interesting video of the Porsche Mission E surfaced on Reddit this week. It gives us one of the best look of the interior of the concept and the structure of the electric drivetrain.

MackeVision, a German 3D visualization and visual effects firm, made the video for Porsche. It shows that the automaker is using a similar battery infrastructure pioneered by Tesla in the Model S, meaning that each motor sits on each axle with the battery pack extending flat between them.

It creates a low center of gravity and more cargo space.

The video also shows a wireless induction charger. The technology is interesting, but so far has proven not really useful due to the complexity of the installation of equipment both inside and outside the vehicle, as well as energy loss and low charge rate. Although by the time the Mission E is expected to hit the market, which is by the end of the decade, most or some of these issues could be resolved.

You should keep in mind that the video was created for the concept vehicle. The production version will likely be significantly different. Here’s the video in full:
