VW to unveil a new electric car concept at CES 2016

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced that during the keynote address of Volkswagen’s Chairman of Passenger Cars Dr. Herbert Diess at the upcoming CES 2016, he will unveil a new all-electric concept car.

Diess is scheduled to deliver a keynote address about “electric mobility driving the automotive market” on January 5 at the Cosmopolitan’s Chelsea Theater.

Diess being a BMW veteran and having been appointed to Volkswagen’s Board of Management of Passenger Cars only in July in 2015, he received very little blame for the recent emission scandal despite his high-ranking at VW. Instead, he seems to see it as an opportunity to promote electric vehicles within the Volkswagen brand. At BMW, Diess was championing the company’s electric “i” brand. Prior to joining VW, he was known to drive in an all-electric BMW i3.

The VW group already announced, prior to the scandal, two new all-electric vehicles under its luxury brands: the Porsche Mission E and the Audi quattro. And since the scandal, the company announced that the next generation Phaeton will be an all-electric vehicle.

In a press release, CES says that Diess will debut a “new era of electric mobility” with his keynote address. Expectations are high….
