Hilton partners with Tesla and GE to install EV charging stations at 100 U.S. hotels

Tesla_at_Hilton_McLean_1Hilton announced today that they will team up with Tesla and GE to install electric vehicle charging stations at 50 U.S. hotels by the end of the year and 100 by the end of 2016.The company will make the charging stations available through a range of its property hotels including The Waldorf Astoria New York, DoubleTree by Hilton Durango, Hampton Inn by Hilton Reno, and Hilton Los Angeles Airport.

They plan to expand the program internationally in the coming year without specifying any market.

Hilton says they will provide the charging stations for free to hotel owners and that the only associated cost will be “installation and electricity usage”.

Tesla already offers a “Destination Charging” program where it offers the stations for free to restaurants and hotels in order for Model S owners to charge once they arrive at their destinations, hence the name of the program. It looks like Hilton will simply be using this program offered by Tesla, but they will also offer level 2 charging through GE’s Current business.
