BMW delivered 3,361 i3’s worldwide in September – 86% growth over last year

BMW issued its worldwide sales report yesterday and confirmed continued growth for its flagship electric car: the i3. The German automaker delivered 3,361 units in Septemeber, a 86% increase over last year.

The company had some sales issues in certain markets, like in its home-turf of Germany, but overall sales have been excellent for BMW’s first meaningful entries in the electric vehicle market.

A significant increase in sales in the US, 67% to 1,710 units, helped the company achieved its September results.

Since the beginning of the year, 20,576 customers have taken delivery of a BMW i3 or i8, nearly twice as many as over the same period last year
