Move over, Rimac. There’s a new all-electric speed leader at the famed Nürburgring track. Veteran smartphone manufacturer and young automotive arm Xiaomi recently achieved the fastest time for a production EV at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

After catching the public’s attention during a lap at Nürburgring last year, Xiaomi has signed on as a long-term premium partner to the track, which includes naming rights on the Grand Prix Circuit and more.

Mere days after Xiaomi Automobile debuted a new tri-motor prototype version of its flagship SU7 EV, its CEO confirmed it will transition into a production version called the SU7 Ultra that maintains nearly all the same components. Before then, however, the 1,548hp BEV will chase some world records at a world-famous track.

The team at Rimac Automobili continues to showcase why its all-electric Nevera hypercar is the fastest production EV on the planet – garnering the latest lap record at the world-renowned Nürburgring track. To celebrate the feat, Rimac has unveiled a limited-edition “Time Attack” version of the Nevera you can see below alongside a video of the record-setting lap.
Ahead of its world premiere at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, Hyundai Motor is teasing the public with one last video of its upcoming performance-focused IONIQ 5 N EV. The racetrack capable model recently entered its final phase of capability testing at the renowned Nürburgring motorsports complex in Germany.
