The A2 e-tron is set to debut soon as a sibling to the Volkswagen ID.3 and Audi’s most affordable EV yet. Unlike the Q4 e-tron, the new entry-level EV has its own unique look.
Audi A2 e-tron is coming in 2026 as a new entry-level EV
Audi is jumping into the entry-level EV segment with an electric version of the A2. Thanks to its infamous egg-shaped design, the gas-powered A2 was considered one of the most aerodynamic cars of its time.
The A2 is making a comeback as an electric vehicle and is set to debut by the end of 2026. Ahead of its big debut, Audi’s entry-level EV has been spotted testing in public, with a design that appears similar to the outgoing A2.
According to senior company sources (via Autocar), the new model will likely be named the A2 e-tron upon launch. Unlike the Q4 e-tron, which was essentially a rebadged Volkswagen ID.4, the new entry-level EV is adopting a unique design.
The new A2 E-tron will go on sale next year as Audi’s most affordable electric vehicle, starting at around £30,000 ($41,000).

Although initial plans called for it to ride on Volkswagen’s Scalable Systems Platform (SSP), the A2 E-tron will be underpinned by the same MEB platform as the ID.3.
Like the ID.3, Audi’s entry-level EV will likely be available with 58 kWh or 79 kWh battery packs, delivering WLTP ranges of around 265 miles (426 km) and 373 miles (600 km).
Audi’s engineers said the A2 e-tron is aimed at filling the gap left by the BMW i3, which was discontinued in 2022. The latest spy shots from Baldauf (via AutoEvolution) show Audi’s entry-level EV headed to the Arctic Circle in Sweden ahead of its debut later this year.
While Audi is preparing to introduce its most affordable EV, Volkswagen has a slate of entry-level EVs set to launch over the next few years, starting with the ID. Polo later this year.
