Ford announces $7,500 Fleet Discount on F150 Lightning (but wait, there’s more)

Ford commercial truck customers can score a sweet deal on a new Ford F-150 Lightning Pro, thanks to a new $7,500 Fleet Order Discount offer – but that’s just the beginning: there are even more Lightning incentives out there for fleet buyers!

Before we get too deep into this new Ford Fleet Order Discount, it’s important to note that the $7,500 Fleet Order Discount is distinct from the Federal $7,500 tax credit.

How do Federal tax credits work? That’s a great question! According to the IRS, “You may qualify for a credit up to $7,500 under Internal Revenue Code Section 30D if you buy a new, qualified plug-in EV or fuel cell electric vehicle (FCV). The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 changed, but extended the terms for this credit for vehicles purchased between 2023 to 2032.”

Granted, that doesn’t do much to answer the question, but Scooter Doll put together a fantastic explainer in a post titled, “Here’s every electric vehicle that currently qualifies for the US federal tax credit in 2024,” and the short version is that both the Standard and Extended Battery versions of the F-150 Lightning can qualify for that credit.

Those Federal EV tax credit dollars are “stackable” with discounts like the one being advertised by Ford in this banner ad, below …

… which, those of you keeping score, means that commercial fleet buyers could get $15,000 off the price of their new electric pickup before negotiations and discounts at their dealer even begin. But even that’s not the end of it.

But wait, there’s more

Depending on where you live, you could be eligible for even more discounts and rebates – either from your state, whether that’s through your state (like California’s HVIP program and Oregon’s Clean Vehicles rebate) or through your local utility, like Illinois’ ComEd.

We covered ComEd’s multi-million dollar commercial EV rebate program as part of our national Drive Electric Week coverage. To recap: fleet buyers in ComEd territory could get up to $7,500 more in rebate dollars, which would also be stackable with any Federal credits and Ford discounts. That’s up to $22,500 in rebate money – more than enough, in other words, to put a serious dent into a fleet buyer’s up-front costs if they’re ready to electrify.

Granted, that can be a big “if,” which is why E-Switch Assist from Ford Pro might be a game changer in getting fleet buyers to accelerate their EV adoption plans. Ford Pro cross vehicle brand manager Nate McDonald recently visited us on Quick Charge to talk about the new fleet management tool and explain how it can help fleets find out if they’re ready for EVs sooner rather than later.
