Despite slower sales in the final few months of 2025, most automakers reported higher overall EV sales in the US. These were the best-selling models outside of Tesla.
Best-selling EVs in 2025 outside of Tesla in the US
A record over 438,000 electric vehicles were sold in the US in the third quarter of 2025, as buyers hurried to secure the $7,500 federal tax credit.
After the credit expired at the end of September, many brands saw EV sales drop considerably in the final few months of 2025.
The policy changes pulled forward potential buyers who might otherwise have waited, leading to lower demand in the fourth quarter. Despite this, most automakers sold more EVs in 2025 than the year before, thanks to more efficient, lower-priced options.
General Motors took second place behind Tesla, with 169,887 EVs sold in the US last year, up 48% from 2024. That’s more than twice the 84,113 electric vehicles crosstown rival Ford sold in the US in 2025.

The Chevy Equinox EV was GM’s best seller with 57,945 units sold. Ford’s Mustang Mach-E trailed behind at 51,630.
Based on official 2025 sales data released so far, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 ranked third with 47,039 units sold, followed by the Honda Prologue at 39,194.

Why didn't you just go ahead and include the Tesla models in there as well, so we get a better idea of how the EV market is shaping up? Seems odd not to include the front runners, to compare with the other manufacturers.
Other popular EVs in order of ranking include: The Ford F-150 Lightning (27,307), Chevy Blazer EV (22,637), Volkswagen ID.4 (22,373), Cadillac Lyriq (20,971), BMW i4 (20,114), Audi Q6 e-tron (17,207), Toyota BZ (15,609), Kia EV9 (15,051), Nissan Ariya (14,906), Kia EV6 (12,933), BMW iX (12,587), Cadillac Optiq (12,187), Acura ZDX (12,005), Chevy Silverado EV (11,275), Hyundai IONIQ 6 (10,478), and Subaru Solterra (10,715).
With new entry-level models, like the Chevy Bolt EV and Nissan LEAF, returning in 2026 priced under $30,000, it will be interesting to see where the standings rank at the end of the year.
