On today’s episode, Mate Rimac beats Tesla to the Robotaxi punch, Porsche recalls 31,000 electric Taycan models, Fred helps find the best tires for your Tesla Model 3, and we go Back to the Future with an electric DeLorean restomod. All this and more, on YouTube’s ONLY show about EVs: Quick Charge!

The inclusion of a link to a 2 1/2 year old article about how the electrified Airstream demo is an "iphone moment", rendering all other travel trailers instantly obsolete, is merely a reminder of how naively uncritical the author is, and how Electrek could benefit from a more journalistic skepticism.
After 2 1/2 years, we see no sign of electrified travel trailers taking over. The electric drive axel from ZF seems to have been only a prototype. The very limited specs that are available for their latest variations on the concept merely serve to illustrate how technologically inferior their electric drive systems are to the state of the art for EVs that one can buy today.
And just as it was 2 1/2 years ago, the huge expense of a battery and electric drive for a travel trailer that most will use infrequently is likely to result in a very limited market for the concept. If we actually see battery and drivetrain costs plummet, this could change. It'd be much more practical to buy an EV with a larger battery. Or more realistically, a Ramcharger once that hits the market.
Whether or not Mate Rimac calls his new, autonomous two-seater a Robotaxi, it sure likes an awful lot like a Robotaxi to me! Let us know how it looks to you in the comments.
