Tesla invites drivers to drift Model 3 on frozen sea to showcase winter driving performance

Tesla is going to invite some owners and reservation holders to drive and drift Model 3 on the frozen sea in Finland in order to showcase the electric vehicle’s winter driving performance.

Over the last week, Tesla has been sending invites to owners around the world to participates in what appears to be a contest to get a chance to win what the automaker has been calling “Tesla Winter Experience 2019.”

The automaker will invite some owners to experience the Model 3 Performance on track mode on a special winter track in Finland.

They write in the invite:

This March, we’re bringing you and a friend to the frozen sea in Finland.

Enter for a thrilling opportunity to attend the first ice driving event with Model 3 and Model S in Europe. Sign up for a chance to visit Kemi, Finland and explore Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive like no one else.

With two motors that digitally control torque to the front and rear wheels, Tesla All-Wheel Drive offers superior traction and control in all weather conditions.

Experience the exhilaration of Track Mode on Model 3 Performance and the unparalleled power and acceleration of Model S as you race across a wintery ice track with a trained professional.

Participants have to write a very short note about “why they want to join Tesla in Finland” and the automaker will apparently choose the winners.

They released this promo video on the contest’s webpage:

Tesla has been hyping Model 3’s performance in winter conditions since winter arrived last month.

The all-wheel-drive versions of the vehicle are proving to have solid driving performance in the snow, but as we previously reported, the vehicle still has some issues in cold weather.

However, Tesla started addressing some of those issues and CEO Elon Musk says that they are going to improve the winter experience with upcoming software updates.
