After unveiling its first vehicle last year, Lucid Motors is now taking a prototype of its all-electric ‘Air’ luxury sedan on the road for promotion.
The vehicle has been spotted around San Francisco and in other locations in California recently.
The Lucid Air is a luxury sedan that the startup claims will achieve 400 miles of range all-electric on a single charge.
It is expected to cost over $100,000 and feature some autonomous technology. The company announced plans for a factory in Arizona and aims to bring the car to market as soon as next year.
Like Tesla, the company started taking pre-orders as soon as it unveiled the car in order to build a backlog and secure more financing. The first 255 cars are reserved as “special edition cars” for a $25,500 deposit and regular versions of the car require a $2,500 deposit.
They are now taking the car on the road to gather more attention and create demand. It appears that the company is filming some promotional content for the Lucid Air:

The vehicle was also spotted in San Francisco – as pictured above via Instagram (jennyha430, jfelkins01) and in this video on Youtube:
The company has been sharing pictures of the ‘executive interior’ version of the sedan, which has been well-received since the unveiling:
They also released more pictures of the car driving around San Francisco:
The vehicle still has a long way to go before going to production, but so far it looks promising.
